I bought the carbs off an unabashed capitalist on ebay,dicster27 made them right. Thanks to dickster27,he's a hell of a nice guy,and same to hawgrod at shop#10.
OK, I admit it... I didn't really like the shape this thing was starting to take. I was doubting you. Shameful of me. Something hits me right in the gut about it now. I really like it from those pics above. Something about the proportions gives it personality - like a vintage toy car or something.
Ryan's vintage toy comment was right along with what I was thinking until I saw the photo with the body up and the engine showing. That car is going to look like it jumped right off one of the Grand Prix posters from the 30's. You could almost visualize it in one of George Hamm's prints And I see ideas to borrow for one of my projects.
Xderelict, What is the wheellbase and track? Is it bigger than it looks? Where does your head line up on the rollbar? Scrump
I think it is a Mopar unit... Looks good, Dick! You and Rob Lee are putting your cars in the World of Wheels this weekend, right? Malcolm
The track is 55 inches center to center of tires and the wheel base is 94 inches. The auto union racer in that Monaco 36 poster looks like the Hoodlum body backwards.
The car looked great tonight on the trailor going to WOW. This car is gonna cause an accident when it's on the road. People don't know what to think.
I love it but then I have since I first saw your idea. You are good man.....I don't care what those "Turds" say.
The Hoodlum moniker is apt, looks like a heap of Old School fun to me. I can see '3o's Grand Prix, '5o's Indy and plenty of Hot Rod!
The car looks great Dick. I can't wait to see it in person. Are those aluminum Lincoln Spare rims on the rear? If so and you need two more I have two in the garage.
Dodge Cordoba pinto beans. Not as cool as Halibrand but at $25.00 apiece they fit the budget.Up front I'm having hawgrod at shop #10 set up Harley v-rod wheels for spindel mounts. They will turn 4:00x18 Firestones. Thanks for the offer on the Lincoln wheels..
That car is really shaping up. It looks soo much better in person, makes you wanna go for a ride! Hey you will have to "open the hood" a couple of times while it is at the World of Wheels. It definatly looks better with the body down, ready to run. But it would be cool to see some peopls reaction when they see the "hood open" Jeff
Here are the front wheels so far. Should get the hubs done and welded up in the next couple weeks. Thanks Dick for letting me be a part of this awesome build!
Ollin, eventually I want to finish with a pan.I have a 39 chevy hood and a couple David Bradley hoods that should give up some metal for the belly pan. Hawgrod, damn thats a big hole for the spindles to fit in.Those wheels will look great with 4:50x19 firestones. They should look good with Cordoba rears. Scrumpy,My heads about 2 inches above the roll bar.I'm 5'6",always wanted to be 5'4''.
The "Hoodlum" was the rage of the World-Of-Wheels show last weekend. Your machine and Rob Lee's roadster where so spectacular together in all their "silverness" in the display and it was a blast watching people stare in wonder at the pair. The air cleaners Hawg-rod machined for you are cool as can be. The awards you both recieved were well deserved, you two are "Artisto Banditos" for sure, thanks again for sharing these rides with us!!--Sololobo
This thing is going to be so much fun to drive I am sure of it. It's really looking awesome and I can't wait to see the finished rollers on. Any idea on color yet?
