The HD V-Rod spindle mount front wheels are just about ready.Big deal towards the ends. The wheels are 4:00x19 and will have Firestone MC tires mounted.
It's been awhile.I was out of comission with a broke thumb,it's better.I have the belly pan attached to the frame.Have to do some gussets for the mounts but its bolted in and removeable. That was like building another half a body only upside down.I'll have better pictures when I get it on the ground and roll it outside.Hope to have it running for shakedown in 6 weeks or so.We'll see. The pan from the cockpit. It breaks down into 5 pieces the body sits in this channel the nose piece stays on the body, the car body is hinged and sits in the pan channel which stays with the frame.Anyway that's a quickie on what's took several months.
My favorite build thread. Looks great Dick. Can't wait to see you and Rob Lee rollin down the road together. Gary
Holy HotRod, Hawgrods work on those wheels is friggin awesome!! Yes gang, this car looks good in pix, and is the coolest ever close up. I can't wait to hear and see this baby on the street. Yoweee!! ~Sololobo~
I finally did something with the headlights. Here it is with out lights. Here with the lights. I made the buckets out of big truck double fillamant oil filters.Hogrod gave them to me awhile back and they worked well for this.Just a slight roll where the bucket meets the bezel. The bezels are from dummy spotlights, the bulbs are 4 1/2 inch high and low beam motorcycle sealed beams. They are adjustable.I have a couple of gaps to adjust and then it's blow it apart for final frame weld off. I also put this tach in the dash. It's attached to the frame and the cove to the body.
Thanks,I don't know why but that was the hardest part design wise for this build.I got out in the garage this afternoon and made this blister over the pitman arm.My camera does not like shinny metal.I put the tape on to show the shape.
It's great to see creativity alive and well! My hats off to you and all the builders who think outside the box and follow through on all their crazy ideas. I'd love to see Kirks and your car side by side. Both are very bitchin! Keep doing what you're doing!
Thanks for the compliments guys.I'd love to see Kirks' Legion Special and the Hoodlum running side by side on the Platte Flats. Some call it I 80,that long boaring 450 mile flat stretch of pavement we Nebraskans have available for late night land speed racing.
Ink King, those lights are the shit!! as is the blister!! That tach looks super f'n duper in the dash. Holy hairpins, that baby just keeps lookin finer!! Thanx for the updates. ~Sololobo~
Wow, The Hoodlum is looking bitchin' with the head lights added. Looking forward to seeing the final product. 41 Dave
So I just checked my email and this is what I found.Hawgrod from SHOP # 10 has had my pair of Harley-Davidson V-Rod front wheels that he has been turning into spindle mounts. The stock wheel looked like this. After he machined the hubs and had them welded in place. WHOA!!!! I think these are pretty cool.
