Here's a modified Speedway hoop steering arm. Note that the drag link is parallel to the ground. This is a Schroeder sprint car box. This set up is 14 years old and a pleasure to drive.

What's your ratio in that box?

Any idea what the difference in the angles on your hairpins and draglink?
The fact that you're running hairpins changes things too...

Ha, I don't have a torch to do the arms at the moment XP Also, I gotta go up by 6" to make it right.

If you're referring to my car, I bought the box 15 years ago from Schroeder for street use and the ratio escapes me right now. The drag link and hair pins are parallel and the pitman arm was m***aged to get everything right. The axle is a '32 heavy, 2" stock drop.

Denis4x4, I dig your set up. The lower bar on the hairpin matches the draglink very well.
I looked at your car a lot while building my '27.

Sorry but recommending welding 7/16 bolts to a 1/2" rod is a Really BAD idea. Some want-to-be welder is going to try that with his 110 mig and when the weld fails.... Heck, I wouldn't trust it even tig welded.
The above post with the bent drag link. Bending the drag link will do nothing to improve the geometry, the pivit points are still the same. Probably just crate extra play as the arm tries to twist instead of push / pull.

What you want is to have the drag link as close as possible to perpendicular to the king pin.
Some of the old feds had an idler arm to attain this.
You also want the steering box to lock before the spindles hit the stops. This avoids putting all of the linkage under unnecessary pressure in a tight turn.
