NICE! You have a good eye, that back window enlargement is a huge improvement. Looking forward to more build progress. Bob
I had to spend a week on another project but the last couple days I was able to hit it hard on “SweeTy”. I got the steering box mount finished, I was going to gusset it but I stood all my 200 lbs on it and jumped and it didn’t budge at all so I’m feeling very comfortable with it. I also finished the floor bracing and my trans crossmember so hopefully the next post I’m making is showing some floors.
With all the major components mounted under the dash, trans crossmember made, and the rest of the floor bracing welded in, I was able to whip up a new firewall.
I changed pace this week and decided to give my engine some love. So the plan is this being my initial engine while the engine being used as mock up right now is built. So the initial engine is just a stock 57 y block 272 ECZ-G heads. Nothing real special about it besides the stuff that I will be able to reuse like the edelbrock 3x2 intake, Mallory YC distributor and some cool valve covers I’m not even sure of what they are. Here some before during and after photos of cleaning stuff up
It’s been a hot minute but here’s an update. I started working on floor structure, floor pans and building the trans tunnel/ floor pans to the firewall. Next up the pans will be getting bead rolled and I will finish building everything to connect and flow together.
I'll mention something. I see a lot of beautiful bead rolls on floors. But what I rarely see is a wire channel like the OEs do to allow the wiring to have a little space to run. Either down the driver's side or down the middle for console electrics. Just a thought before you commit.
I plan on this car having extremely minimal wiring inside. There won’t be anything beyond the dash and the taillights will be run inside the frame rails. I appreciate where your heads at tho!
