Hey guys, my neighbor and I are building a model A pickup Gow Job. We have a hot little B engine that we want to put into the A frame. Any suggestions on transmissions and any modifications needed to make the engine swap would be helpful. Also, will the stock rear ended be ok with the hopped up engine? Might as well use the model B transmission as well or with some slight modification you can use later V8 transmission guts in it. For the cross member I would use a cut down 32 K-member. This will give you the mount for the transmission. The 32 rear end is basically the same internally as the model A. If you want to upgrade the rear end use a 35-40 V8 rear. You will need to shorten the torque tube and drive shaft. Get the Vern Tardel AV8 book it has all those modifications covered in there and my save you from trial and error.
I had a B motor in my 30 for several years before I put an inserted motor in it. Snyders has the adapters for using the stock front wishbone and clutch and brake pedals. Front mount is the same and there are Float-A-Motor mounts to bolt the 32 bellhousing to the Model A frame. I used the gears out of a later V8 trans since I had an empty case, fit with no problems.
