Technical horn button removal?

    I had a 30's Lincoln Zephyr wheel that was very similar condition that I wanted to rescue. I ended up cutting the shaft short right behind the wheel and drilling through the shaft from the front. Snuck up on the size until I was just about into the wheel itself, then used punches with sharp edges to catch the remaining bits of shaft. You can snag the edges of the remaining shaft on the backside and push them the wrong way through to loosen them up and maybe collapse them a bit. If you can get the key out it will let the remains of the shaft deform easier.

    heated her up and instant success! i just heated the steering shaft down a bit below the wheel

    got this far, im trying to salvage the collar, the one on my car is smashed to hell 20190205_174705.jpg
