not a OCd nut , but do set hose clamps so they are easier to get at with a socket ( I do not use a screw it up driver to tighten or loosen them) and do wrap the tails with electrical tape to prevent scratch makers or trim off the excess if its excessive ( and deburr it too ) , as for screws I do not care as long as they are tight and hold what they are supposed to hold , gauges on the race care 12 o clock for normal opps , street car they are the way they were made , the extra gauges are sometimes clocked like the trans temp on my truck but come from the mfg that way . but wiring . has to be neat in a loom and the zip strips clipped and melted .
My Dad {who built boats}told me clocking was a sign of very good work n detail,so I do it were ever I can,but the're a few places like headbolts and rod bolts ,wheel lugs that can't be.
Hell, most of the time I'm happy that I remember to tighten up the clamp before I have antifreeze in my boots....
I like to run all my plug wires parallel, hate this overlapping rubbish people do.... It means putting some of the plugs caps on the wrong plugs, and it runs like ****, but it sure looks neat and symmetrical.
Ya all keep posting! I'm taking notes to see just how many of you I can piss off! If anything on my car is clocked or symmetric, it is purely by accident! I come from the school of thought that people can only see one side of the car at a time, both sides don't have to be exactly the same, as long as both sides look OK. Perfection is having a ride that gets me where I want to go and back home without issues, time after time. Function over form every time. Some of you guys are way to serious! Gene
