Some of you may have seen my posts of my work, and some may have seen it me taking images at the Rodders Revival. If not, then head over to eatcrowstudio.com to get an idea of what I do. You may have also seen my images in The Rodders Journal #61 with my roadster. I work in tintype photography, like the stuff done during the civil war on sheets of glass and metal. Its a very different way to create images then film of digital. The details are intense and haunting. No two are the same, and are not easy to create. I have been knocking around the idea of devoting my next year to documenting hot rodding and kustoms. I want to capture images of the past, present and future of it all. We are all here for different reasons, but we all love it just the same. Our time is passing faster and faster. Each day we lose people and places that helped turn the car world into the amazing places it is for us today. This is what is pushing me to focus my energy and efforts into this. What I need from the folks on here is simply. I need introductions and invites into the shops and garages around the country. There are tens of thousands of cars, parts and people scattered across this country. There is simply no way to capture them all without people giving me the scoop on some great folks with great collections and stories that need to be told. In Jan I am starting out to the West coast, as my roadster is being displayed at the GNRS. I figure this is a great time to start working on the book. I am lugging hundreds of pounds of antique cameras and photo gear with me and want to use it on the trip. I hope to be able to turn this into a collection of images that can help document our current world of hot rods and customs. So if you have a great shop, story or rare or odd parts. If you know a local builder who should be known or seen by others, please let me know. This is going to be a huge project, and I really want it to be something everyone can enjoy and respect. This is going to something I need the hot rod and custom community to give me a hand with. So whatcha think?
