It should be posible to made a shorter bellhousing
so it fits a flathead with exdended bellhousing
but it will be more trixi to do

Just for fun guys, try this:
    http://www.anciennes.net
    Click: "Consulter"
Under "Automobiles" Click on: "Ventes auto" (Cars for sale)
Choose range of years (fx: 1927 - 1940) in the two boxes: "Année entre" - - -"et"
    Click on: "Filtrer"

Hang back and dream on :)

The engine appears to be the 3.9 litre "French Flathead" off a SIMCA Cargo truck.

I know it came from an army truck and the rebuilt tags say it's a 4,2litre (256ci) it was rebuilt after 20000km (12000 miles)

Not quite as small. About 22" longer in wheelbase; anything up to double the engine capacity. In size it's more like a Model T.

i've followed NielsK's link and these are a few examples....now do you see what i mean?
Wouldnt these make for *****in rides!
The only problem is that apparently for us europeas is cheaper to buy a decent 30s american car
over one of ours, if you follow the link yourself you'll see some pretty amazing price tags!

Good luck w/ your build anyway, didnt mean to hijack

Cool DHC. I'd expect it's coachbuilt: I wonder by whom. It needs a wheelbase stretch ahead of the cowl, though.

Edit: Found it. Darl'mat, who were more Peugeot tuners than coachbuilders; built some interesting sports models later under their own name but with Peugeot running gear.

PEUGEOT 201 Darl'Mat Pourtout - 1931 is what the add says so yeah youre correct!

On a better look there are quite a few bargains there really, other than the usual 5000 euros rust buckets.......intresting!

The 4.2 and 3.9 liter "French Flathead" look identical, but usually the 4.2 came with a air brake compessor in the location where usually the generator is and featured a governor in the rear, driven by the camshaft.
The 4.2 were used in the SUMB 4x4 army trucks.

We plan to get some more of these engines pretty soon from France.
Mine already sits in my 37 Ford.

I use the original '37 Cologne 3speed gearbox with the big truck clutch as French Flatheads retained the early bellhousing style.
Not sure which 3speed you've got though.

Waterpumps are Cologne G29T, intake and Solex carb from Cologne 21-stud block.
The dizzy is a French Ducellier, but will be replaced with modified SBC soon.
I use a Powermaster 6 Volt Alternator converted to negative earth.

That's going to make a cool little custom rod. I could also see that looking decent as a g***er with the fenders left on.

The "Rush-Matic" 3-speed off a Brazilian Simca Esplanada maybe?
Probably rare as hen's teeth ...
