Anyone know of car covers for a model A fender less hot rod. Ran a search on the site , but no results.
California car covers makes them for highboy roadsters. Call and they will ask what tires , what chop in windshield and if you have a top. I got one of their dust proof models and it is nice. John
I have also been considering a new cover that fits right for my Model A it is chopped 4" and channeled 4" fenderless, and hoodless. with 16" '36 artillery wheels. guess I need to call them to and see if they can make one up. my problem is choosing the correct material. I have a cover for my '51 Merc. that I bought from them about 20 years ago, and I like the material it is made of, but I can't remember what they called it. The material is fairly heavy, but it is not for weather proof outside storage, and my cars are all stored inside anyway. I just like the way the cover I have has held up and has been easy on the paint. the material is a light gray, and has a pattern to it that I can only describe as quilted , but it is not. It has little round looking holes imprinted in the material. I almost think it might be their storm weave material but I am not sure. I do have some extra material they sent me once to patch a tear. ( my fault ). I may have to send them a sample. to get what I want. anyone have any idea what the material I have is by my description ?
Thanks, John, I don't even have the car yet. Storage around our place is a big problem, township is less than wonderful on letting folks build extra out buildings. Hate the idea of a out door hot rod, but it is either that or no hot rod. Soooo, I am looking at all weather covers. Probably would rent something for the winter storage.
I bought 2 California car covers for my Airflow that has major body mods.Oh yea don't run through dryer,LOL.They had me measure blue prints of the car and it fit perfect.Top quality.
A friend had a nice padded car cover for his full fendered '32 roadster. We stripped the roadster, (de-fendered it, Highboy style) and he threw the car cover over it...What a sloppy fit! His wife came out, hand-gathered it, and said, "What's the worry? Take the fenders off the car, so take the fenders off the cover..." She cut it in what seemed "to pieces"! Actually, it was. But after 2 or 3 're-measurements', she sewed it up and it looked like it was designed that way. Blew my mind...
Sad, a subject that some of us were talking about recently. I know we all like to show off our cars that we have worked so hard on but sometimes it a good idea to cover them up. Car covers are seldom talked about but( are so important). Sometimes it's a good idea to cover them up, for example at a car show staying overnight in a motel etc. There is a old expresssion OUT OF SIGHT OUT OF MIND.... Everyone of us should own one to avoid being a victim when your car is going to be unattended for some time. Gene
Right as rain, Gene! I can't recall which HAMBER it was on the stolen car thread...but his solution to the 'parking at the Motel 6' was a car cover emblazoned with "PT CRUZER". I thought that was brilliantly deceptive! (worth the time to do it!)
Almost every one of us knows of a victim if not themselves that have been victimized by some jerk There should be a car cover in everyones trunk...........
I keep my '51 Merc, and the '30 coupe covered even in the garage just to keep the dust off of it. then I go out in the garage, pull the covers off them and just sit there and look at them trying to decide which one to drive, or just to admire them, and think how lucky I have been to finally be in this position, after many years of work to have these cars.
I bought a Ford Ranger pickup cover off a member on here to cover my 32 highboy pickup. Just a dust cover but it works slick as hell. Being basically lazy I have only used it for the winter down time.
I ask this question a couple of years ago and California car cover was the number 1 recommended manufacturer. I had decided to order mine from CCC for our wagon, then I got a PM from a fellow hamber,I won't call him out,but he told me he worked for another manufacturer (Covercraft) and could save me 150 bucks on the same '52-54 Ford Ranch Wagon cover. I ordered from his company and was and still am very disappointed with the cover,,the fit is horrible and looks like it is a universal station wagon cover for anything up to the late 50's. Imagine a 3x sweatshirt on a person weighing 150 lb. Please don't try and cut corners, learn from my mistake. California Car Cover is the best. HRP
We just bought my Son Dan a new cover from California Car Cover for his Mustang, and it is absolutely the best. Soft, fits like a glove, and way above the quality of the ones from Autozone and other off the rack versions. Not cheap, but well worth the money. He likes it so much, he keeps the car covered in the garage and still puts sheets over the car cover to keep the cover clean. Don
Got a CCC "Noah" cover for my A. They really know what to ask to make it fit perfect. Not cheap but you get what you pay for.
I don't doubt that California Car Covers are very good, maybe the best, but they aren't cheap. You can go low budget and get a decent cover from Autozone. I got this one here for my fenderless 30 Model A Closed Cab pickup, and it actually fits it very nice. 5 year warranty, and Autozone will honor the warranty, I've used these for years on other vehicles, and if they see a lot of exposure to the sun and weather they usually won't last as long as they are warranted for. I just take them back to Autozone with the paperwork and they've exchanged them, no questions asked. http://www.autozone.com/covers-and-...e-cover-custom/170906_794937_0/?checkfit=true
I bought a cover from California car cover for my 62 GMC short bed, not cheap but the fit was perfect, like a glove. Great product.
If she can sew well enough to make a dress fit a curvy woman, a car is no problem. Ask of she has any interest in trying a seat.
