back in January this year I made a trip (16 hours) from southern Oregon to the "Hot Rod Church for Sinners". I met with Brian Bent the lead singer/guitar player from the Pioneers (rockabilly gospel) I came home to Medford and started one up here. We have been going since April and have been enjoying every minute. We will be moving into a facility soon and getting a website as Brian has. check his out www.hotrodchurch.com. There have been about 100 shirts made up and put out so far we will be making the car show circuit in Oregon and Washington next year, as my car is still being built. I have performed one wedding about a month ago and will do another this month, and............. chris
I've got a church key...does that mean I'm in!?! There's gotta be a place for Praisethelowered somewhere in here!
Whoa Chris! Thanks for posting the link to to website. What a GREAT idea, I thought I was weird to be a HotRodder that believes in Jesus Christ. Where can I buy some of the music you guy's play (Christian Rockabilly). Casper.
wow thats cool. I helped out with the start of the Hot Rod Church here is so cal... Brian is a good guy... im glad people are taking this in....im glad that you wanted to start something up there. Bigdaddy
I am pleased your church is a success, but I thought politics and religion were two private subjects that were not to be discussed on this board?
i am sorry that this is an offence, please send a message to the guy that runs this thing and have him remove it immediately. i was completely unaware of the "rules of the road" for religion. chris
the politics and religion thing keeps from ******* off the m***es, we are here for a common bond of old cars & stuff when the other stuff starts in it tends to divide and split groups
I think that rule is so people don't come on here spreading the Gospel According to Luke... I think it is also people are free to say ******* without being chastized. Bottom line... us heathens and the saved have common ground here... hot rods. And to me, you having a church where hot rodders are welcome, and deals with some of the issues common to hot rodders... is cool. It's cool, and rod related in my book. Now, ryan... the owner of this site... may have a different opinion. Sam.
I agree with Sam, it is about hotrods and is not a religious discussion, shouldn't offend anyone. Besides if we can't talk about God, then should we be able to have his adversary plastered all over the place? If God's out Satan really should be too but he isn't.
I agree with Oldcar.. ! It`s probably a good thing you guys have going, but this aint the right place to exspose / promote your religion ... Klaz
I agree with Sam !!!! It shure is funny all the neg on this post , look back and see ALL the prayer reqests for friends !!!!!! And theirs not any atheist in a fox hole !!!! Danny
Thanks for the info , That definitely is a new way to spread the word! As far as the HAMB , I would think that it is fine as long as we just bring this up that this is out there for those who are interested and don't mention scripture etc... .
Hotrods and religion and bikes don't relate. Jesus didn't own a 32 three window. He did have bias-plys on his sandals though.....
For many of us, hot rods is not something we just do... it's who we are! Personally, I dig the idea, as I don't really fit in at many churches. I don't play golf, or fish, or watch basketball on TV... granted all the common ground we need is our belief, but if we find a place where people really understand us, that's a place we'd want to call "home". Trying to be somebody you're not on Sunday mornings is something far too many people do, but I don't want to be one of them... though I am frequently guilty!
Rockabilly Gospel? That's a new one on me. Pretty cool. About the complainers: Do these people 'have' to read every single post? This is the kind of thing that many of us are interested in, it's as on-topic as a lot of other posts, and you don't have to read this post or click on the link. If you aren't interested, you don't have to read it. I don't have time to read every post, so I skip those that aren't up my alley (how many times and ways can you say "Gold-chainers are losers?"). Good grief.
Since I started this line, I wasn't "complaining" and I don't see anyone else was either. Not every post suits, and you don't have to read them or agree, but there is a place for religious and political discussion-this ain't it. I'd hope Ryan will comment, but until he does, here is a copy of THE RULES-posted so everyone new to the HAMB undertsands it from the beginning: See # 2. Rules: 1. No profanity in subject lines 2. No political/religious/racial posts 3. No ****. 4. All personal information listed on this board is private and protected. The HAMB does not sell this information and you are not privy to use it for your own reasons. Test us on this one and we will bite. 5. New Users must fill out thier profiles. Every bit that you can. he never once mentioned what religion it was or said you must join or be damned. I love it when FNG's try to police the board.
