Maybe the GMBs can dress up in their car-hop outfits...[/quote] LMAO Great idea Ryan! I went to something similar at the Memphis drive-In in Brooklyn, Ohio last August. The guy sitting next to us said he had worked at the drive-in back in '69 and it looked exactly the same as it does now. Finally got to see American Graffiti on the big screen. It was really great. I'm in! Buckle
Sounds like Dixie Fried North. Might have to try to make this one. Nice time of year for a leisurely 550 mile drive.

I got my cholesterol down to 488, so it's cookie time

I just read that Galipolis has a monument to yellow fever at a park downtown. Seems back in the day a boat on the ohio river broke down in good ol Galipolis and the p***engers on board were sick with yellow fever. Apparently they got too friendly with the natives and quite a few died . Anyway the monument is in a park and has the broken part off the boat engine on the top of it, I think it's a perfect spot for a HAMB gathering picture .
Also just across the river is the home of the Mothman for anyone into that. http://www.roadsideamerica.com/attract/WVPOImothman.html Gallopolis/Pt Pleasant was the site of the Silver Bridge collapse in 1967. http://www.corrosion-doctors.org/Bridges/Silver-Bridge.htm There is another working Drive-in around an hour back up the river in Parkersburg for anyone interested. (saw a few note that they are catching all of them they can). Another still standing but not operational.
This sounds like too much fun to miss-if Denise is going,it's only another couple hours for us up here in the great north-canadian beer anyone?!
1200 miles and 19 hours from Houston. I'm prolly going to p*** and only hit the Hamb Drags West and Midwest. Only 16 hours to Phoenix, and 10 to Joplin. Bad*** idea Ryan.
uhhh, is this gonna stay the official thread or is it gonna get it's own forum(like the drags?) Too close for me NOT to go........might even have something finished enough to drive!
QUOTE"Too close for me NOT to go........might even have something finished enough to drive!" QUOTE YEAH RIGHT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BB
Like a HUGE Caddy that we can hide 6 people in the trunk to sneek into the Drive-In?? I call dips on the backseat when it gets dark.
My moneys on BobK breaking down, and ending up with another show stopping loaner and Earl Schieb riding shotgun. Very Joplinish.......
either that or rear-ending someone Earl Schieb WILL have his Caddy done or I won't let me live it down.

For those who need reservations BobK has listed local hotels here: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=151618 As usual, better hurry things are filling up fast!
Awesome! A HAMB event within reasonable driving distance of me. If the 30th isn't a race night with my club, I'll be there. Jan
First off, Congrats on the big leap!! And there is a post pinned up top with Hotel info. In case you missed it.
It looks as though many (in the other thread) are planning on coming in the day before AND staying the night of the event. Are most of you coming in, just going to mess around town? Are we allowed at the drive-in the day, so that we can have a place to talk hot rods and check each other's rods out in the day time? I only live an hour or so away and I'm trying to figure out if I need a room (if they aren't all gone)....
