Event Coverage Hot Rod Eruption- Fun in the Sun in the shade of Mt. St. Helens

The gates were supposed to open at 9, I had big plans to be there before that. All things considered, getting there a half hour later didn't seem to matter. The sky didn't look to promising, kinda overcast in that Pacific Northwest coastal sorta way. We made our way through the staging area and parked trackside! Nothing but a few concrete blocks, a telephone pole, and some air between us and the track!

So, first things first, had to get back to the pit area and check out the cars...

 

...there was quite an eclectic collection, my favorite was the rail by far...

 

...like I said, a little of everything...

 

...and after a drivers meeting, the racing started. The young man with the helmet in his hands found out that racing off lights is a little different on a track, as noted by the pieces of pressure plate littering the inside of his car...and so ended his day at the races

 

That's OK as long as he didn't get a quickie pedicure at the same time..

 

No, I believe he was damn lucky though, I overheard someone talking about how there was so little room for the pedals that he was wasn't wearing shoes...

...the "Frantic Rat", the tower said she was runnin' a thousand horsepower, pulled one of the runs with a 6.2 et! It sure sounded good. The primaries on the headers were MONSTERS!

overall about how many cars showed up. I would haved liked to attend but other things got in the way.. Next year..

Somehow I lost the video of the mini bike drags. There were only four entrants, but it was funny as heck! Even got to see a wheelie! Like I said before, an absolute blast!

Electrodude - good job on the pics. I got a bunch of shots and some videos, too, but it's taking hours to load them to my site and the old laptop is burning hot, so I'm glad you posted yours.

For those who didn't make it, it was worth the time, and the pictures are only half the fun - you had to be there. Maybe next year they can ban the newer cars. Likely to catch on and draw a good crowd next time.

Great job by the Riverdale track crew - nice to see a friendly bunch that allows a little good clean hot rod fun.

I give a great big +1 to banning the newer cars. Unfortunately if there hadn't been any this year the field would've been quite a bit smaller. Here's to hoping for a monster turnout next year!

I went on the run to the mountain but got sick saturday night missed out on the drags I hear everyone had a great time though. I hope it happens next year I am looking forward to it. Billetproof drags in the country I love it.
