Art & Inspiration HOT ROD fonts?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by gnichols, Jun 12, 2012.

  1. I would be proud too......I think it's neat that hotrodding embraces these dying arts......like the recent thread on 40's/ 50's/ 60's advertising art.
Technology has largely replaced the hands on aspect ...inevitable but sad.

Old sign guys and artists used a process called ''kerning'' to adjust the optical spacing between letters. In the example of the hotrod cover notice the distance of the T needs to be adjusted so it looks correct. You can't always just take the fonts as typed.

    Hey, thanks man!

  5. Kerning, tracking and leading is just as important today, though it is much easier today with computers. Seeing the mock cover I posted was an example I wasn't waisting more than the 15 minutes on it.

Here are a few fonts I picked out and messed with today, all free and already on my Word program! I'm sure one of these will work. I tried to post samples, but I kept getting errors. I'll leave it to you to check them out. But thanx again gang, Gary
