I would be proud too......I think it's neat that hotrodding embraces these dying arts......like the recent thread on 40's/ 50's/ 60's advertising art. Technology has largely replaced the hands on aspect ...inevitable but sad.

Old sign guys and artists used a process called ''kerning'' to adjust the optical spacing between letters. In the example of the hotrod cover notice the distance of the T needs to be adjusted so it looks correct. You can't always just take the fonts as typed.
Kerning, tracking and leading is just as important today, though it is much easier today with computers. Seeing the mock cover I posted was an example I wasn't waisting more than the 15 minutes on it.
