Miller has an awesomely simple welding calculator app for iPhone. Its free and has come in handy a time or two.
My iPhone is also my way to make contact with the HAMB, i don't own a computer, i don't know much about them...and that's the way i want keep it.
Speedview Lite is a free and very accurate GPS speedometer. Sent from my DROID device using the TJJ mobile app
I use a decibelmeter to see if I'm going to be deaf after some time of driving my truck (right now I think is hitting the redline at 90db) I compared it to the one at the factory, calibrated, and is pretty accurate.
I've been resisting an iphone for a while now. Maybe the right suggestions will cause me to make the jump.
I use this one in car all the time. Best thing it's free! Full Speedo, altitude, and compass. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/car-dashboard/id343821211?mt=8
Too fanzy for me,but my buddys use weather radar before and at car shows/meets,use nuts with roadsters with out folding tops are looking at rain %
Ulysse speedometer. Really accurate I've checked it against multiple other cars. Really useful too as I found out my Hudson is 5 mph off. Free app too which makes it all the better
There is an app called Classic Car that has production numbers and engine options for a lot of cars. Has wheelbase and original MSRP too. It only has 15 cars in the free version, but with a $1.98 upgrade it has something like 250. It has pictures of some of the cars built in.
There's one also one called Toilet Finder for finding the local pee pee spot that might come in handy too!
My cheap hand crank phone has a few apps built in, but i dont think i can get any more on it. Im waiting untill they start giving away iphones, to upgrade, cheap fuck that i am.
Try these Apps: Car Hud, Beat the Traffic, Speedview, Digital Altimeter, And of course, ...tjj (the jalopy journal). One of my music favorites is: SHAZAM. music Identification. Download the shortcut too. .. ...this tjj message was born in the back seat of a Greyhound bus, ...rolling down highway 41.
Is it true that some or most apps are running in the background at all times thus slowing your phone and running the battery down faster?
I'm not a fan of Showfinder (and I paid for it I think). It's just not expansive enough. There is a guy down here named Larry Day, and he runs an email system every week that lists all (or most) of the cruise-in's, car shows, etc., and his list isn't perfect, but it is WAY BETTER and more accurate than Showfinder. Those guys need to get way more connected to the car culture. That would help. But as far as I'm concerned, at this point, Showfinder is a waste of bytes on your smartphone. I hope they get better.
No, but some of the apps that come pre- loaded on your phone do. ...this tjj message was born in the back seat of a Greyhound bus, ...rolling down highway 41.
i had a really "lite" tire size calculator that came in handy when i was deciding on tire size for my truck, it converts metric to SAE tire measurements, gives sidewall height and stuff. Use that to find the size you need or what sizes will work then use craigspro to find them for sale haha.
I like the Garage Buddy app. It's free. Has carb flow calculator, tire size calc, HP loss at altitude, gear calc, units converter, belt size calc, and a few misc. other things. Also if you click the ruler button it has a cool pin up girl on it.
I have an old stick phone, I talk to people. I've been able to get through life with out a smart phone, GPS, etc. Like we used to do, I remember things, like where I am going,, etc. How many people here operate on the same set of skills and gain more productivity during the day?
I forgot Tune In Radio...let's you listen to nearly any radio station from anywhere so long as you have a cell signal...no static with a very clear schedule...so if you want to catch your local radio while far from home-great. I use it here in Detroit to keep up with local radio back home in the Mid-Atlantic and my adopted SoCal home.
I like Fastest Droid for the speedometer, 1/4 mile ET, and top speed. One of my fav's is Logitech's Alert. I use it to view real time video from the security camera on the front of my shop.
all i have is a old half beatin to death flip phone i dont even use the browser function if im lucky? i get or send one text a month and MAYBE get 3 calls aweek and thats if my mom needs something i basically just use my phone for a watch
Yes, it is true. To close them, double click the home button on the bottom front of your iPhone, this will bring up all the programs running, hold down on one of the icons until they start to jiggle and you can see the minus icon on them. Just click the minus icon to close the app, you have to close them one at a time. When you're done hit the home button again.
