I still cant belive that we fit all that junk...uh,I mean quality, road tested vintage parts into your trailer and the back seat of the 40.I had a great time,Thanks!
The Hoedown was great fun, I'm glad I made the trip. Here's a link to a picture set that I put together: http://flickr.com/photos/bsgalio/sets/72157594276689107/
Was planning on attending my first "hoedown". Something came up and I wasn't able to attend. However, I gotta say, that after checking out the photos, I'm sort of glad I didn't make the trip. Doesn't look like there was too much to look at. Alot of half-a## stuff.
Well with that attitude, you probably didnt belong there anyway. It was a show for like minded people who build and work on their own cars. A home built car, perhaps on a limited budget may be "half ass stuff" to an accountant (assuming by your profile), who may prefer to write a big fat check for his car, but to me, I saw a lot of really cool stuff there that had a lot of hgeart and sole in it. I was sick, and it was still worth the drive out there. I already posted another thread on the hoedown, but since this is the active one, I just wanna say I had a great time. I was just getting over being sick, but was glad I could make it. I spent so much time meeting and talking to so many great people, that I barely had any time to take any pics, and later when we got home, some of the guys I drove down with were talking about cars I didnt even really get the time to check out. It was nice to finally meet Stacy (action girl) breifly, Im sure we will get a chance to shoot the shit in 2 weeks.
Wasn't aware that I came across with an "attitude". It was my opinion...and by the way, Chad s, I build my own cars. Budget is not a measure of what is cool or not, but ugly is. And, IN MY OPINION, there's alot of ugly in those photos.
You gotta also put into concideration that an online photo album is usualy a biased presentation of what a show was really like. Most people take pics of what they like. There were hundreds of cars there, some of which I thought were great, but arnt pictured on any of the online albums I have seen yet. I saw one fotki album from the show elsewhere on the internet that would have made you thing it was a muscle car and street rod show. There wasnt a lot of that stuff there (but more than I would have expected), but thats all he took pictures of! You also have to concider that the oppertunity to meet and talk to so many great people is alone worth the trip. Not trying to play devils advocate or anything, but to label the show, that you didnt attend, as a bunch of "half assed stuff" is kinda silly.
I get there early, aparently not early enough. And had to settle on a little spot all the way back... didnt sell much and i didnt see the show at all... Missed all of the fun. Ill never sell shit again at a car show swap meet... Good seeing klaus and cindy and the rest of the guys... steve
the rad in my 53 merc took a shit on the way down as well. towed it home and came down in the daily. sawz, I think you hooked me up with a bag to do some pooper-scooping. I had the three pups with me and the one pulled up and dumped right next to your pile'o parts. haha.
Jeff...sorry I missed it! You didn't sell anything good did you?? I see phillip is on the road again sans the wires. Clark
sawzall & mazdaslam, great to meet you guy. The show was all I that heard about it and more, hope to be there next year, if I'm still around. Great show.
one set of drums.. i too am really glad phillip was back in biznass its kinda like inspiration for the rest of us.. although sorta HIGH ZOOT.. I really like his new wheels synthesis.. you little shit.. timbo.. any show is what YOU make of it.. since you didnt make it...I'll say that this show is sorta a gathering for the "squaretube rusty truck collective" there were only a handful of SCARY RIDES. and my photos are only of the few cars I looked at.. not even half the show is represented.. I was at my swap spot most of the day..
i made the trip down again this year....its always good to get to see and talk to some people that i dont very often...and meet some new folks who i may have only talked to on here. if you looking for alot of really traditionally styled old hot rods...its not really the show for you...some of the cars there were on the rough side and some were nicely built...if your picky about what your looking at then maybe its not the show for you... i found it a bit overwhelming with the circus atmosphere but all in all...its nice to see some old friends and get out of the house and away from my own "half-assed stuff" once in a while.... Zach
Chad, it was great finally getting to meet you also. I love your car and can't wait to see the stripes you had added Saturday. I meant to come find you, but my friend's feet were killing her so we decided to head out earlier than planned. Make sure you come say hello at Greaseball and let me buy ya a beer! I thought the show was killer this year, and we're so excited that Cheriti landed the title of Miss Hoedown 2006, she totally deserved it. Stacey
There were hundreds of "not half-assed" cars there. There were also a bunch of "half-assed" cars there. Mine being one of them. I'm glad I went to see them ALL. All those half-assed cars usually show a lot of creativity. The same creativity which will later become the next "best thing" in hot rodding. The show was great, as usual. I parked my car and didn't see it again untill I left. I was so busy meeting all the great people who came to the show, I forgot to take pictures! Thanks to everyone for the pics. and thanks for bringing your cars and bikes, and junk, for me to see. MIKE.
good seeing all my peeps there. we got there pretty early & by the afternoon i was already wiped out. we split around 3 or 4 but it felt like a solid day. saw all the cars twice. got to talk to a ton of folks i hadnt seen in a while. i was stoked to see klaus & cindy made it. my favorite rumblers mike, shane & petey (sorry i didnt get to rap to ya pete), my deadbeater fools were out in full force, louis, scotty, furry & nicole.... shit, everybody was there! between the hoedown on saturday & then riding my rigid chopper 200 miles all day yesterday - i need to sleep for a couple days. im fuckin' whooped!
the show must have been 3 times the size of it last year. I saw some of the same cars as previous years..but that's expected.. I did see some of the "square tube collective" Nice show otherwise..could use more swappers and naked chicks...but eh..what's a guy to do.. tok
