Just got my April 07 Hot Rod today and saw the HAMB posts about fake patina under "Word From The Hard-Core" on p.73. Good stuff!!!
Todd called me and told me about the article. He seems to get a kick out of the critisism, good and bad. I read the HAMB thread, after he called me. Haven't read the article yet. Great to see HAMB guys, quotes in print.
Tell him it's a beautiful car!! It really is! I had seen it around before, and saw that it was fibergl***, but I didn't realize he started with a finished car with huge rims... purely the switch to whitewalls and steel wheels is awesome. As for the fake rust, etc? Eh... not my thing... I have enough holes in my steel, no need to drill more. But whatever... it doesn't take away from the 37' being one of the ***iest cars ever. Maybe if I had more money than time I'd do something similar. Who knows. Ben
Pretty cool to see guys quoted from the HAMB in print. The car really isn't my cup of tea but it did remind me of the same process I go through when I weather my model railroad cars to make them look old and worn.
Hot Rod is actually one of the only car magazines I bother to read. Still, I'd trade some of my rust for decent metal.
