Years ago at the vintage drags at Silver Dollar Raceway in middle Georgia I saw a neat little sportscar hot rod. Guy had a Triumph GT6 chassis with a Midget/Sprite body. No front sheet metal, just some ‘30s style grille. I don’t remember if it was the GT6 engine and trans or that out of a TR6. It may belong to someone in here. I have a picture somewhere on that shiny paper stuff we used to use.
It's funny how most of the cars in the Hot Rod Sports Cars thread on the main board are foreign cars (100s of them), but foreign cars aren't allowed on the main forum because "foreign cars are not traditional and not enough people built them". Somehow, if you install a Chevy v8 they no longer are foreign.
Yep, installing a Hemi or a Chevy V8 makes everything an American made car. Got to be true, I've seen them on the HAMB main board.
My absolute favorite hot rod sports car, the Olds Healey 394 Olds with better than factory weight distribution. http://www.acmefluid.com.au/larry/oldshealey.pdf http://www.britishv8.org/Other/TomSchnerk.htm
Since this isn't the main board, I'd toss in the miatas with swaps, Frankenstien Motorworks and his various MR2s, and one that goes to the extreme. www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_hY2M4oZc8
I’ve posted this on a couple of other threads. This was a ‘68 Triumph spitfire that I bought as a roller, already set up for a small block, with a Ford 9” rear. I dropped a 327/th350 combo I had in it. The engine fit in with no modifications to the hood. Scary fast sleeper…
One of the best sports cars I ever got to drive was an early 240Z with a 327 and a four speed. It felt Cobra-like, but with far better ergonomics.
