^^ That's a hot rod sports car if I ever saw one! Looks serious. A bit of Death Race 2000 vibes there.

upload_2023-9-15_16-2-31.png Doane Spencer was known for more than his iconic black deuce roadster, he was heavily involved in roadracing with a 65 Sunbeam Tiger, many times called the Cobras' little brother.

I'm having a hard time finding shots of the original car (Thanks p-bucket), I think this is a tribute car.

"The Spencer Tiger was a work of art. Painted black, with the exhausts exiting each side through the sills, and with Hallibrand wheels, many of his hot rodding influences were evident. Spencer built the Tiger with 4-wheel disc brakes, a beautiful low Perspex windscreen that wrapped around each flank and along the doors, a driver roll-hoop in which the bodywork molded around the rear support bar. He removed anything in the engine bay that didn’t need to be there, and relocated it elsewhere within the car, and cut reverse louvres in the hood and ducts in the front guards to help cure the Tiger of its natural tendency to overheat."

For anyone thinking OT here, the boss says
"Nothing about Mr. Spencer is off topic... The man made it happen."

I got the s#/t scared out of me when I was about 12 years old while riding in my pals older brothers' 65 Sunbeam Tiger.

  11. No pics because knowledge about it was hidden from me till a decade after he died because everyone feared stories of it would "influence" me lol. 1958-1959 my grandpa picked up an early fifties Jaguar with a bad engine in trade for some mechanic work. At the time his cousins owned a Chevy dealership. He ordered a complete fuelie 283 and dropped it in the jag. Pretty sure from the stories I've heard he also ran a t10. He then terrorized the streets racing for titles. I learned that the sale of the jag along with all of the cars he won(I've heard numbers from 7-30.... would personally believe around 10-12) is how he was able to come up with the money to pay for getting married to grandma and got them into their first house in 1959. It makes it even funnier as on multiple occasions he told me the dumbest thing to ever do is race for titles regardless of how fast your car is lol. From what I gather from dad (who was born in 61) the jag was also the last hot rod he had
