Yep, it says BANTHRICO INC CHICAGO USA. 1953 on lisc plate. Pretty neat piece, got any pics of the others in the set? Also, would you know year they were made? Thanks! Flux
Here are 2 pics of the complete collection. I believe around 1980 when my mother worked at the bank and she brought the set home. I can ask later for exact year. The 3rd picture with just 2 cars in it are extras that I would sell. 15.00 each plus shipping.
Thanks! It's neat to dig up history, even on collectables. It just caught my eye being such a heavy made piece. It looked nicely out of place amongst the imported stuff surrounding it. Your price on the extras is great too. I'll probably take it to the August Springfield, Mo. Swap meet with some old Marx trucks to sell. I always wanted to own a 53 vette , now I can say I have! Flux
Does anybody on this thread know about Vilac toys? Wooden toys, made in France by a 100-year old company. If anyone is familiar and knowledgeable about Vilac toy vehicles, please let me know. I'd like to have a conversation.
Some more! 35 Chevy! I restored it some years back. All graphics are painted. Not sure if you can make out the bowties on the caps!
[/ATTACH] Found this little gem in an antique shop today.Game is missing one of the marble launcher caps and the two marbles but shouldn't be a problem to make. Box art is great and it was only $10
When the 3 Grandsons were younger I built them a few cool rides. Still got a few left incase more Grandkids are born.
Here's my grandson Jacob with a car I put together for him when he was 3 years old.Electric powered with 2 12v batteries it would do about 10mph.Took him about 5 minutes to learn how to drive it.
Maverick - Great pics! Still have my ''petmobile". One of the few that survived my destructive youth.
My bother and I had 4 like that, one just like that one, a woody, a truck and a coupe with rumble seat...still
Here's my grandson (also named Jacob) on my battery powered 1958 Marx "Electromobile Sportster". This is the younger grandkids favorite toy when they visit. Mick
Had the second one from left, red and blue convert, and the green tub Dad brought them home from the nats in Detroit in 72
I've had the all black one and the phaeton with yellow fenders since I was a kid. The others recently collected, usually can find them for about $10 or less. Missing just one which is a green phaeton with red fenders.
Maverick, yours is a Tootsie toy, different than the Tonkas. They are fairly common I see them fairly often.
As a boy, my grandfather played with this Model A out behind the house. His parents moved to north Texas in the late '30s and this was left behind. A couple of years ago, my uncle returned to that old house and snooped around with a metal detector. The old coupe was buried about a foot down. My uncle painted it and gave it to me as a Christmas present. It's completely useless as a toy but I think it's neat.
