hot rod versus garage

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by falconsprint63, May 5, 2012.

  1. at this point in time...no.

  2. I've had the same project for nearly 40 years, never running. I was without a garage for the first 17 years, then a dedicated third bay for my project the past eight years. Truck still isn't running, but I like being able to work on it in a comfortable, dry, well-equipped, plumbed and wired garage. Sell the projects, build the garage.

  3. to many regrets with the cars i sold.Im keeping them all from here on .

I say keep the car, enjoy it and save for the garage. Or maybe build another care for that sole purpose to raise funds for the garage. Ive done that with OT trucks, get them, fix them and flip them. Like it was said earlier, something with no emotional attachment.

If I were you , before I sold my car I'd head on down to Floyd's Barber Shop and check with the boys there. It would seem that they ( Andy,Barnie, Goober, Floyd and Howard ) should know of a place you could rent for additional space. Good luck .

It depends on what vehicle,if it was my 37 chevy p/u or my 55 sunliner it would be no since they were in the family many years but would start to buy and sell to get the cash needed to build a garage or add on.

I always do whatever I have to in order to hit the mark. There's real life beyond our car passions. In 94 I sold a 72 Harley Night Train to buy a house. Didn't have to, but the extra $$$$ lowered the payment by 1/2. Sold my bracket racer for shop equipment and a major daily driver upgrade later on. Sold parts, collectibles, and more to make this move and have enough to build a 30X40 garage. That was in 02, and when I look back at how I got here I smile. Only I can see the smile sometimes, if ya know what I mean. If selling your ride and building that shop can do that for you, you already know the answer.

Yes, I enjoy working with my hands and playing in the shop, that is one the best parts of owning cars to me. A good shop is a must have and I might sell one of my cars to do major improvements to mine before winter unles I can sell a kid on ebay.(roof, better heat, shop equipment). I can always piece together another toy as long as there is a place to build it.
