Guys a **** head, should be taken out the back and shot. All he has succeeded to do is put rust pits in a good body.

Well, ya got everybody going. I think it's time for the punch line. Jokes aren't funny if you hold on to the punch line too long. Comedy is all about the timing, ya know?

Ha Ha...but even THAT would be way better than this stupid "fake patina" trend!!

hate to be the bearer of bad news but if u really can't stand what people do to your car then don't sell it. once it's sold it's theirs, and they can do whatever they want, no matter how awful it is.

Looks like he read to many OSR mags. I just don't understand the rust bucket thing. Build it yourself, keep to tradition - that doesn't mean make it look like it was dug out of a gravel pit.

  12. That wasnt a joke? he realy didnt know??

I think if I were to buy a vehicle in primer and I had intentions of painting it, before spending the cash, I'd kinda like to know what I was painting over. I don't think one person on here knows this man's intentions. Maybe it's in progress...funny thing about paint is, it's just paint. That car is a couple of hours of sanding and grinding away from being back the way it was. Some of you fellas need to renew your prescriptions...

Rustiness is okay as is flat black, but the end result on that car looks like ****. Wouldn't park next to it let alone own it. :D

I suspect todays patina will be tomorrows pepto-pink & teal. I think the car was more traditional in the "before shot", if traditional is what the owner was after. I've never come across a photo in any of the Montgomery/Batchelor/Genet etc books that showed a rusty ratty old body on a hot rod, I don't think "back in the day" a hot rodder would have wanted to be seen in something that looked like that - an old jalopy. If the owner wanted to make the car more traditional, he missed the boat. Maybe he just wanted to capture the latest trend. Whatever - it's his car, eh?

I just hate this ****. When I think of the essence of hot rodding, this **** goes on the complete other end of the scale...poser! Same thing with Olds valve covers on an SBC or fake Buick fins over Wilwood discs. If you run discs or SBC, so what?!?! Don't try to fake people out by trying to be something it's not. People used to build sleeper cars that would try to hide real performance to unsuspecting rivals. Today, it's just the opposite. Hot rodding used to be about getting the most performance out of your car. Non-essentials such as fenders and trim would go to save weight. Now, it's all about image and what looks cool. Fawking Madison Ave. ********. I have no problem with an original steel car that has yet to be painted, even if the owner wants to keep it that way. But to spend good money on a fake rust paint job is the most gay thing in hot rodding today.

Real patina is earned, not created...

Patinaed cars are treasures, and faux patinaed cars are costume jewelry.

It looked good before he touched it. Adding those wheels to change it up would have been smart. Adding cancer to a sound body to be cool is not...i
