Can anyone recommend some good books on kustomizing your ride? It's winter and too cold to do anything out in the garage right now anyway. So I was wondering if there were any of those basic "for dummies" kinda books, or the kinds of "how-to" books you see at Home Depot for various home projects, only about working on old cars. I'd like to start doing some things to my '65 Cuda and it'd just be nice to read up on it a bit before I actually start it, esp. since I'm new to this whole scene. So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
You mean books about body and ch***is customizing, or just repair and maintainence stuff?? For customizing books, you have GOT to get "How to Build Custom Cars" and "How to Chop Cars" by Tex Smith, but I don't think most of it would apply to a '65 Cuda. For how to work on old cars, just go to Amazon.coma and search for things like "muscle cars" and "hot rod" and go from there. By the way, if you want a 1950s-style car please don't do it to the 'Cuda. Sell or trade it for something older. Cars that new just don't work with wide whites and red rims.
No, don't think I'll be doing any chopping on my Cuda. The early '60s Mopars still look cool with minor customizations, and that look lasted into '65. I'm not talkin' wide whites but I would like to get some cop wheels for it (I'm running rallyes on it right now) and maybe redlines down the road. Always liked the cop steelies with the chrome lugs look. But I need to something... I'm just bored with the way it looks. I want to strip off a lot of the chrome (esp. around the wheel wells), do some body work, rip out and replace the interior, maybe paint it flat black... just make it look less typical. Not planning on selling it at all. I have to admit I love the car and it's never failed me (I drive it to work every day and the slant 6 is strong). I just wanna personalize it a little, ya know? But never having done any kind of body work before I was looking for suggestions on reading up on it first, that's all.
