There's a strong possibility my girlfriend, her son and I will be moving to Wales next year, so Polly can attend Univ. of Wales, Swansea.
Because of the addict I am, am trying find info on the Welsh rodding scene, and to hear from Welsh Hamb'ers.
Web search engines haven't helped much. Any ideas for links, or good books out there?
Am not sure what work I'll get, media jobs are the easiest for me to get, with my mixed experience, but have been itching to get back into automotive work.
Am so interested in learing about Welsh rods, customs 'n cruising. And the pub scene. [IMG]
    Any info?

I only ever talked to ONE guy from Wales, and I have to say, to this day, I STILL have no idea what he was trying to say to me. He sounded like a drunk English guy. I hope for your sake, the whole country doesn't sound like this.

That's funny, I'll have to p*** that along to my stepdad who's from south England.
I had some linquistically scary experiences in Australia... particularly with a cabby in The Rocks area of Sydney. [IMG]

Don't understand them either, but they do like sheep....especially the ones at the edge of a cliffe....they push back harder!
Seriously though just accross the bridge there's a healthy scene in Bristol, that'd be worth a look.

You could try posting a similar message on the UK NSRA website's message board - www.nsra.org.uk

    That is most likely because he wasn't even remotely Australian! As in most countries, it seems to be a pre-requisite in becoming a cab driver that you;

    a) can't speak the language
    b) can't drive for ****
    c) don't know any streets in the town.

BTW, every girl I've ever met from Wales was gorgeous and had a beautiful melodic accent. (I've met two) [IMG]

As far as I know there isn’t a lot going on in Wales. As Limey said get across the border to Bristol Plenty going on in England, remember were only a small country so you could get to most of the major shows with in a few hours.
If you get over I’m about 2 hours from Swansea, Id be happy to take you on a tour of stuff going on around here

    Cheers Pete

As others have said the bristol lot are pretty active, have a look at http://www.bootsoop.freeserve.co.uk/bristol.htm - click the "Bristol Streetrods" link for some pics of their cars. The guys that own Honky Tonkin' ( '57 g***er in flake, Im sure pics have been on here before..) are from over that way.
Im sure there are a few guys in Swansea too.

The good news is you can escape to relative sanity quite easily via the M4 which runs right acorss to london..

Provided you can say "alrite boyo" and like leeks you'll be fine in Wales [IMG]

Hahaha, Brootal, thats sounds like the majority of cabdrivers here in Oslo. The sound of poor drivingskills combined with Mercedes turbodiesel and automatic is an important part of the Oslos' soundtrack.. [IMG]

JapChris- cool links! I mean- Catherine Zeta Jones is Welsh? I mean-
What Welsh HAMB'ers do we have out there?
Bristol sounds like quite the hotspot for gearheads, will definitely beat some tracks there.

If it happens, we'll most likely be moving in August '04, I just wish I had more time for another project here in the States, but ain't that the way it goes.
Polly and I have half-kidded about car projects while there for a year, but have no idea what's commonly available and/or used for old rods.

If you dont have the time to build something there buy all the bits and ship them with you. Stuff like brake shoes etc are easy to get hold of but all that stuff you guys wander down to a junkyard and upll off old wrecks is near impossible to get here!
You might want to consider finding some bodies/cars to bring in and sell when you get here.. Lots of people will pay good money for 30s tin...
