History Hot Rods, 1945

  1. With the thread on the Life magazine photo Archive going strong I thought I would post this article from a 1945 Life magazine.

These guys are the people that infuenced my generation on our love for Hot Rods and Kustoms (I was born July 31 1945).
    Thanks for the post.

  10. Do those 2 name's ring a bell with any of you Cali guys? Wonder if they are still alive? They would be in their late 70's.

Notice it said " **** inherited - from his soldier brother". Also, not a roll bar in sight.

  15. Very cool. I've heard that Life just mad this all avail, but have yet to check it out. Wow, looks like we'll get alot of info. Can't wait.

Did they own Mecanix Illustrated as well? I was searching for some info on Tom Mc Cahill and a little 27 roadster he tested. Couldn't find the article when I searched M.I. ...Just a few pics.

My buddy has a Co. called, 1945.

My Co. name has been Ye Ole Chop Shoppe for years now. Started as a joke when a friend walked in and named it. Kinda stuck.

It doesn't look like too many hats with brims, in the desert. No cowboy hats, straw hats or even baseball hats.

An original blow torch on the floor as well as head and intake gaskets for the flattie. Also note what appears to be a set of cluster gears on the floor and 3 hanging from the rafters.

    Thanks for posting!
