I'm looking for pictures from the late 1950s and early 1960s with hot rods or customs with a Mopar B or RB engine. Anybody have any?
They certainly weren't as popular in that era as other V8s, but there were some. I don't have the extensive catalog of old pictures some here have, so I'll page @40ragtopdown and @65pacecar who might have some.
Not much to go on but I can picture a ‘32 3W, channeled and black paint running a Mopar B with six two barrels. It was featured in Hot Rod around the early ‘60’s and one of the photo captions mentioned the owner’s father was a Chrysler executive. I’m out of town ‘til the weekend, when home I’ll try to track it down.
I really dig these engines. To me, they look like Ford Y-Blocks on steroids. I really dig them in hot rods.
Obviously I love big block Chrysler stuffs! I’m dying for a set of crossram ones takes for my ragtop if anyone has some cheap ones!
I love the way they look. I have two 413s and a 440 short block that a couple of weeks ago I was ready to sell. Once I rolled out one 413, it had me. I haven't been able to get over it since. I love the 413 because everybody hates it. In my mind, it makes perfect sense to me...
Richard Petty's team changing out a Hemi in his race car. Tom Hoover, the father of the Wedge and Max Wedge, also fathered the 426 Hemi...
Helped build this when I was about twenty one years old with my good friend. Initially put a 440 in it and then With all the burnout fun we are having It blew up , then stuck a 66 383 engine in it.still hauled ass. Sorry, there's no engine pictures.
I built a lot of hot rods with big block Mopar motors, but that was not during the late 50s or early 60s. I was born in 56. Been a hot rodder for a long time, but I didn't get started building them that young, my hot rods at that age all fit into my little hands.
