It's really not about that for me. I could care less about the attention or "street cred" that goes along with the cars I own. In fact, I avoid it. Having to endure the same conversation 10 times a day with total strangers becomes painfully tedious after a while. Yes, thank you, I appreciate your compliments. No, I'm not looking to sell it. No, I don't want to hear about the 78 malibu 4 door you regret selling in the early 80's. No, it doesn't have a 350 in it. No, I'm not interested in hearing about your brother's best-friend's mailman who had a hot rod one time. No, I don't have time to sit here and ******** with you for an hour!!! Call me a misanthrope, but having my ear chewed off by someone I don't even know gets on my nerves. I just love cars. I love owning them, looking at them, thinking of all the cool stories they could tell, and driving the **** out of 'em. It transcends all of the personal or selfish ********.
[ QUOTE ] No, I'm not looking to sell it. [/ QUOTE ] I have to agree with you on that one. I've always hated the painted on "For Sale", but I've been thinking about painting on "NOT For Sale".
Yeah, when your car is not for sale... that attention ****s. I know this has happened to some of you before: When your car has a for sale sign on it while driving, someone always tries to yell over the pipes that they want to buy the car. So that someone flags you down while cruisin the strip. Then after you follow them and stop whatever the hell you were doing; they nitpick your car to death and give you some unbelievable BS offer for your ride when your dam # and Price were clearly on the window! - now that pisses me off.
a buddy of mine had his car for sale. I was standing next to his car, talking with him, when another friend, who didn't know the first friend walked up, looked at the FOR SALE sign, "65 - is that dollars?" (He was asking $6500, which he got) (The second friend was a muclecar guy)
