That is very cool, and a bitchin' deck too. Well done Steve. I bet a HAMBer snaggs that thing up for some major coin. Not to change the subject, but what is your method for printing on these decks? Can you explain "stencil art"?

That's a great cause and a phenomenal opportunity to pick up some nearly impossible to find original art from people who were (are) heroes to a lot of us. I hope it raises big bucks, I'm watching quite a few myself.

  4. Steve, thank you! I lost my Mom to Cancer a few years back, so this is a big deal to me. I've been a supporter of boarding-for-breast Cancer and used to go to the Thrash-a-thon in SLO every year.

my senior design project back when i was in college a few years ago was a very similar idea to this, a traveling exhibit of art by fellow skaters on decks, followed by an auction to help support whatever charity i chose.

this is a great idea and i hope you guys pull in top dollar for those decks!!!

    my pleasure Bryan:)

Hey ... i used to go to those same events as well. Skating the vert ramp on the slopes was awesome, but very cold on the snow. I went a few times to the SLO event, the ramp was fun as well.

I'm stoked that i'm finally able to give back in some way now for all the blessings i've recieved from my dedication to this sport/lifestyle of skateboarding and art as well... what comes around, goes around!

I also did a breast cancer artshow two months ago that was a huge success, I love doing art and i'm honored that people like what i've been creating lately... artwise:)

    peace!

  13. Very cool Steve. I'm current high bidder for the next few minutes at least. My bid won't last, but I'm glad to bump it up (and if my bid does last... bonus!).

    Cab,

your a ruler my man, I showed this to me wifie, she teared up on me (luckly she didnt break out into full fledged raindrops, I dunno how to handle that) she's a non-hodgkins lymphoma survivor...6 years now. Though we cant afford the decks we do support the cancer society as much as we are able. My wife's goal was a 5K (for the cancer society) a year after she was cancer free, now while I am a runner (MILSPEC bloke) I hate it with a passion, but I was still in it for the cause, I told her I would run with her all the way up to her marathon, she just did her marathon last year and luckly I survived...now, I'm done with the runs, I'll meet her at the finish line with the car, that runnin stuff is for the birds, I'll pay for my entry though :) Anyway, my rambling point being, commoners such as ourselves pay attention to stuff like this, we appreciate it, I know I do and I damn sure my wife does.

    thanks....

Steve just a short note to say thank you and look for an outright donation as I began to fight the battle of my life last Wednesday when I was diagnosed. It is a tough thing to handle but ever so much more when it is a child that is affected by this horrible disease. It knows no boundaries. Best of luck to this organization and my kindest wishes for you Steve for stepping up to support the cause.

Steve, too cool man. You've been a long time hero to me through your skating and your positive outlook on things. Fund raisers like this really strike home when youve lost people to cancer, and after spending all day in the hospital with my Grandpa, we realize how real this stuff is. Hope the board sells high!

Cab - Thank You! I will always prize this deck and use it as inspiration and a reminder to always try and make a difference in everything that I do.

Hamb'rs - My heart and prayers go out to all who fighting illnesses or are along side a loved who is. Two of my friends have both lost parents. One a month ago to a liver malfunction, and one today from a massive stroke. So everyone please remember to tell the ones you love, that you do, and be there for those in need of a friend. I know we all get caught up in life and sometimes we take for granted our blessings, are less understanding or forgiving of others. Try to greet each day with a smile and lend a hand to someone in some way, because one day or another we will all be reaching for a hand.

I am so grateful that I am a part of this community, it is truely one of a kind.

    My best to you all,

    Tommy

Dang, how did I miss this thread before? Way cool CAB. Since you have done art before it probably didn't seem like that much effort at first. Not till you get the praise and then see the money go to a good cause that it really hits.
