Hot Rods & Custom,,drive them to work?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Jun 25, 2013.

  1. I try to drive one of my hot rods to work on a regular basis a few times a week,I'm fortunate that I can keep a eye on it,,if you have a photo of it in the parking lot that would be cool. HRP

When I was working I drove one of mine in as much as possible....although my insurance guy said not to drive it to work.

  3. Did when I still had a job, either what ever hot rod I owned or my bike depending on which one was up and running at the time.

there is no way i would take that 32 sedan anywhere near my commute. I see a wreck every day either comining or going. sometimes more than one. this mornings wreck was a fatality. :(

I do have a great parking spot though. 10 feet from the door.

This a very old picture of the '51 parked in the North Lot of the company I used to work for. Unfortunately, I don't have any pics of it parked in the lot at my current employer.

    My insurance expressedly forbids it.

I drove my '55 F100 to work daily, and the '29 Roadster Pickup 2 or 3 days a week...
the '63-1/2 Galaxie took turns with my '66 VW bug...

I was the Supervisor for ALLCO trailer MFG, oversaw the complete builds of my aluminum bottom dumps, (doubles)

My parking was right outside my office, semi-fenced in area, beneath the willow tree...
Damn, why didn't I take pics? (all my employees thought I was rich! Guess I was, then...)

I drive 45 miles each way on the Garden State Parkway (though the Essex and Union tolls). No matter how bad I want to drive old tin to work, it would just get totaled, only a matter of time. Just not worth the heartache.

like gimpyshotrods, insurance company does not permit daily use. this is under the classic car category with agreed to value policy. right now my '54 Ford does not meet their classic requirements for agreed value. so, can go anywhere, and hope it does not get totaled.

  20. Working on a college campus I only take mine out once school is out session. I don't need any sorority girls banging their fake Louie Vuitton bags and zippers off my car!

I usually drive mine Thursday and Friday, it's kinda like a treat at the end of the work week.

  25. A change in route seems like a solution for the "drive a hot rod" days.

Yep, every friday and when I have to come in on saturdays. I've been driving my '61 daily for a month now because of my stupid Colorado DD that I'm swapping the head on.

I love it because I really look forward to coming to work. Here's my baby at work:

No way would I drive it to my work. I work in a hospital and the parking lot is filled with people banging wheel chairs around, tight spots, homeless, drug fucked assholes and staff who just don't give a shit. People just don't give a shit about other people's property. It is absolutely not worth it for some asshole to ding up my ride and I have to pay to fix it just so i can say I drive it to work

I'm blessed to work in a town that traffic isn't a problem and I can park in a safe area.
I can drive the Merc or my Impala and not have to worry about it. This is my new daily
driver. If I only had the chance to drive it on weekends I would miss a lot of kool times.

    Who do you insure with?
My car is at work every day. Then again I work out of my own shop in the back yard and that is where I keep the car also. When I did have a real job I drove it there once in a while. It was such a windy and dusty area I didn't like parking it there a lot.
