My pop was in the Sea-Bee's. He joined @ 16 and boxed aboard ship (the Hornet). He was in the South Pacific from 1942 to 1945. He earned two purple hearts and a bronze star. Except for some old scrap book photos I know very little about his tour there. He never talked about it, never. he just came home and went to work...
    I miss him! g

All veterans and civilians that help, deserve our honor and respect for the freedom we have today. There were young people that joined up after 9-11. So patriotism is not dead.

I'm trying REALLY hard to get where you're coming from and I can't. Because I knew a couple guys, who thought THEY were showing patriotism as well, while in Iraq. They didn't come home.

Maybe not enough movies have been made about the present war, but ALL who have EVER served, did so bravely. That's all I've got for this thread.

My uncle Don was in the Bataan Death march. His best friend was shot in the leg and couldn't walk. Uncle Don carried him until he died. Eventually was able to escape and floated a sunken ships hatch to Corregidor where he was capture again. Spent the rest of the war in a Japanese Coal mine. I found his stories incredable.

Was re-reading this from another thread, thought it was appropriate.
