Yeah how about a complete mean mountain rumblers set? Does a complete Johnny Lightning drag racing set count? Oh and a few odds and ends from 6-72 or so. How much have you got to spend? LOL.
The most valuable one i have is an original blue VW bus in the 1990's first edition. Last time i saw, it was worth about 100 bucks. I have about 3-400
Hot Wheels................hell yea i collect Hot Wheels. Im a moderator at HWC, and bounce my spare time either working the site or hanging out here. My collection is kinda big, all treasure hunts and limited Hot Wheels. Enough to build a killer hot rod for sure. If your on HWC lmk your user name. Mine is selamatspeedlimit
I Dont Want To Spend A Ton On Hot Wheels, Lol But I Do Love To Buy, And Ive Been Buying From This Crackhead Guy Here But The Last Time He Overcharged Me And Im Done With Him. Ive Got A Complete 2001 First Edition Set Mint, For Trade Or Sell.
Ok. I've got 2 of these on display (sans packaging) and a dozen or so other TH. Just the cool ones. This is one of the coolest Treasure Hunts ever. (and yes the packages were all bad on the ones that were opened... sheesh... I'm not stupid!)
I got a couple of original funny-cars from the 70's, they raise up and everything. One is Don Prudhome. (Now the real trick is to find what box I have them in..lol)
the audio is off from the mechanics of this one... but you get the idea. It really is bad ass! <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/NUTXt8JNVUc&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/NUTXt8JNVUc&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
That was an easy car to get, lets see you do that a few times with some Treasure Hunts......... Funny Story......I love hot wheels but am by no means a collector. I have a few, most all of them are some sort of Sedan body that my wife or daughter spot and bring home and put in the display cases in the garage. One day they brought me home this really cool red and white scalloped 32 Sedan. I thanked them, and took it out of the package and put it in the cabinet with my other collectibles. A few days later, a guy I know comes by and is looking at my stuff in the cabinets and says, wow where did you get the Treasure Hunt car and why did you open it. I said, what are you talking about and what is a treasure hunt? Sure enough, right there on the roof it says treasure hunt. Oh, Well! I like them out of the package. You guys can think dumbasses like me for raising the value of your treasure hunts!
Good for you. You have to be able to open one occasionally, and yes, even a Treasure Hunt once in a great while. If you can't they just become a commodity and some of the fun dissapears. The day I can't bring myself to open one is the day to stop. Johnnie.
Are you kidding, anything with "wheels" I collect. I like to customize some of them by parting out doner cars. Swaping wheels, engines, etc.
I have this case from when I was a kid and several hot wheels cars from the 70s and 80s. If anyone is interested in it, shoot me a PM. I was going to post it in the classifieds, but I didn't think anyone would be interested Vintage Hot Wheels carrier with some hot wheels and Matchbox cars from the 70s and 80s.
Yup! I feel the same way. I never collected for the investment, I collected for the fun of them. I opened EVERYTHING! I had complete Treasure Hunt sets from 1999 thru 2003 that were all opened. I also have a set of all 16 of the redline replicas that came out in '93 & '94 for the 25th anniversary, all opened. I've even been known to open original redlines if the card was buggered up. If I can't roll it around the desk making "vroom vroom" noises I really don't want it. I figure in 20-25 years all the Hot Wheel "investors" will be in for a big surprise when they try to sell off their collections. Too many were hoarded away and not played with for the values to ever increase much.
Figure it wood happen sometime... 1/64 Hot Wheels of Not One but Two, Woodie Works Bodies designed and built out of my shop ....haha.. isnt it cute..... Hot Wheels.. ultra detail series.. The copper one is available at almost any store..where they sell Hot Wheels... ...the second is a limited Hot Wheel Convention car.(under 3000 made). just for the collectors..and was modeled after the black car.. nah.. dont collect just smash them and crash them... woodguy32.
Want to see a bunch of Hot wheel commercials, a little bit of Bonneville , drags with the Moongoose and the Snake. Be patient as some commercials seem like they repeat , but they are little different.Hope yall like it...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FjmC...3620CF98&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=34
I have a huge collection of not just hot wheels but different scales and brands. lots of mark martin stuff, even have the micro machine hauler and car from way back. I often buy bunches of them when i have extra money, and give them to young kids I know. maby it will start something.I had piles of the orange track and all the accessories, My mom up in Ohio was supposed to keep it until i could retrieve it, but she sold it AUGGGHHH!!! anybody remember the power boosters that took d batteries? had a handle on the side that controlled the speed of the foam rollers inside. car would come down the track and woosh!! I would love to find one of those again to add to my collection.
That was the first one I bought. The event ranks right up there with the Kennedy assassination and 9-11. I remember the place. The first time I saw them. Ben Franklin in Westlink shopping center. Wichita, Kansas 1968. Summer I think. I was 13 or 14. I still have some of those first generation cars. I've never stopped buying them. I always check Target or Wal-Mart to see what's new.
My "first" was a purple Python back in '68. I was 5 years old, remember it like yesterday! After that I got hooked on the hotrod models...Hot Heap, '31 Woody, '32 Vicky, and the '36 Coupe. I loved the rumbleseat on the coupe. I've managed to find replacements of some of the ones I remember having as a kid... These are a few of the Treasure Hunts that I have left that I set free from their packages.
Funny this thread popped up again... I'm looking for one of these for a buddy of mine. he's not a car guy, but we were talking Hot Wheels and this was his favourite when he was a kid, I'd like to find one for his birthday. It's a 1968 Ford J-car... Anyone have one they'd part with (I'm not a collector, and don't have collector bucks either. I'm hoping for a crappy old one that isn't going to break the bank).
Hot Wheels are SOOO cool, I've got a couple billion of 'em. I used to get yelled at when I would open the limited edition ones my mom would by me of the 'bay..But they are really cool, and how many kids did you know who had VW Drag buses with dents and bent axles? P.S. I thought I would post a little shameless plug... ~my cars for sale~ http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=3777716#post3777716
I like buying the cool new ones that seem to be aimed at the "adult market". Go figure. These guys know their customers old and young. I get a kick out of the hard core collecters at show's. Gotta keep in in the package. Fuck that! I wanna take it out and play with it!! I got em all over my desk at work right by my 1/18scale cars.
That should be fairly easy to come by on the 'Bay. It's not a rare casting so the prices shouldn't be too bad. http://toys.search.ebay.com/J-Car_R...tsZinsifQQsaslcZ2QQsbrftogZ1QQsofocusZunknown
