So this is how you screw up a really nice 53 caddy bumper and then fix it :)
Start out by figuring out how much you need to narrow it, 6" in this application, you'll take notice that I left the factory seam...

    Cut it all apart :)

Tack all back together only to realize that your bumperettes are waaaay too big on a cut down bumper...

DANG, now I got this ugly seam..

So a little grindage tomorrow and she'll be sexy :)

This concludes my tutorial on how to narrow a bumper the pain in the ass way :)

I played with them and they were just too small, that bumper is too thick and would have to be thinned out to make em look right imo, and with the way those 54 bumperettes are shaped I dont think adding too them would work so well.

I have a kaiser over rider with the bullets but that seems like a shame to use that as the whole point of running a kaiser is to run your exhaust through the bullets :)

I think this bumper will look plenty good smoothed out though, I am excited about getting it ground down this evening!

So I got a good bit of work done last night, ( note to self, TIG, Not MIG )
Metal finishing a bumper is a bit of a chore.

I have the bumper welded to my (table) here but when ever I tried to hammer on it to work up the low spot it just vibrated and flexed which was not helpful so I welded a stob connecting the bumper to the table and took a big brass hammer and beat it into submission!

Then came a lot of block sanding with still more to go.

I want to get it pretty much polished so that hopefully the cost of getting it chromed with be a little better :D

Thanks for the kind words guys and josh, gfy :)
