Well you certainly made that look easy!

 

so jeroma and myself broke out the 4.5" angle grinder with a diamond cutoff wheel and a spray bottle of water and we made some shit happen got the stainless cut too

unfortunately it got late and we didnt have a rope so we couldnt install the window but that will be done directly after work tomorrow!

I cant believe how nice it turned out... it looks so damn good!

Man, that statement means alot...that was the whole point to chop a car back when they first started doing it, to improve the lines and flow of a car's body (as Winfield said at a show when he was chopping a top) As if it could have looked that way from the factory. Mail slot windows and hammered tops look good on some cars, but a chop like yours really goes back to the roots of kustom cars. Looks great.

 

I guess you could cut the glass first but that seems rather cumbersome to me... and it may not be chopped a ton but there is almost 3" difference in hieght in the front and probably 4" or 5" in the back...

as for keeping the stock window, I am just not a big fan of wrap around rear windows, I like big sexy sail panels I have seen wrap around rear windows that looked great but its just not my first choice.


and my suspension, it has a Fatmans MII ultra low front end under it, my stock front end/steering was shot and it was actually about the same price in my case as everything needed to be replaced. oh and 1 coil cut off the front with 2" dropped spindles, the rear has a set of 3" dropped springs from posies with a set of 3" lowering blocks, 8" c-notch in the back and the tunnel has been raised 5".

and yea as im sure my 235 is not going anywhere unless someone offers me a chunk o change for it

I gotta tell ya Del..... that as they say is sex! This whole car has made me absolutely fall in love with 49-54 Chevys. The chop is EXACTLY how it should of been rolling off the assembly line back in the day. Very nice chop, you should be proud. Can't wait to see it tonight.

thanks guys! jeroma and I got the windshield and rear window installed this evening, the windshield was a little tighter than I cared for it to be, we measured it out but the gasket was pretty stiff so maybe after it sets in the sun all day it will loosen up a tad.

when ever I pull the windows back out to paint the car I am going to test fate and trim another 1/16th off the top...

like I said it fits but it was a bear to get in.

gonna try to knock out my quarter windows tomorrow

 

now that you have all this free time come finish my fleetline!!!
