heading down past Couer delane (if thats spelt right) to Wallace Idaho near the 1st part of June and thought I might head over to that hotrod cafe if its worth having a look at and ordering up some sort of grub for me and the my kid if its worth the look? gonna be a road trip to test the old farm truck 60's style if you read this you still want that stuff? if so I'll bring it along and see about getting it shipped from a US post office
Well i stopped in there last summer and its awesome. I wish we had something like it up around these parts. Great food, and the inside is loaded with car stuff, including rods on poles, full scale hotrods, a 57 chev delivery above the bar, a car showcased just inside the doors, ya eat outta what looks like hubcaps and oil cans and such its great. All the TV's are playin car videos from local runs and such as well, and if you hit it good, you can take in a cruise night there that i think is on wednesday nights, and they really pack em in there.
As a tourist, if you're driving by it's worth a stop. I recall a few cars and bikes inside. Better than most '50s / car themed diners. It's right on the highway, with a big Harley(?) place next door. You can pick up a NW show/swap schedule there too.
We are having a NW get together later this summer in C'our de lane. How far from there is this place? Might be kinda cool to check out as we are looking for places to eat.
I cant say for sure as I had driven a long ways at the point of checkin it out but if memory serves me correctly it isnt that far away really. Post falls where the Hotrod Cafe is, is only about 20 minutes from Spokane, if that, so...uhh... how far is spokane from couer de lane..?
we'll stop in there then and have a look if all is going good with the truck, was figuring on going on a wednesday so there is no weekend traffic but don't think we'll be there in the evening cause we have to get home for school the next day so its a one day trip thanks for the info!
Cool, thanks! I actually Mapquested it too after I posted. Funny thing is I met some of the Slick 60s cats at the Monroe swap meet today and we talked about this. Turns out that's the exact place they were all thinking about going too.
I stopped in with my old 50 chevy sedan delivery. I was on my way home to Omaha from taking in the NW nats in Puyallup, Wa. If you drive a hotrod, they let you park in preferred-parking, right in front! There were about 5 cars parked in the hotrod parking when I was there. It's a great tourist-trap with lotsa t-shirts and hotrod related nic-nacs to buy.
I just heard that the Hotrod cafe in post falls closed their doors today after 14years of opperation. crapy deal.
Yeah they did. Hopefully the River City Rod Run keeps goin, the Hot Rod had a big hand in that. And its spelt "Coeur d' Alene" guys.
