Just went through this whole thread, love this coupe!! You’re doing this car a lot of good, and maintaining a lot of its character
looks like you got it covered. One thing about is it can be changed if you have a problem. Here, in sunny Phoenix my tank vents when pressure builds up on hot days. My vent comes out in one of the stake pockets. Real good job of resurrecting and old rod.
I finished the floor pans i just need to paint them. I plan on screwing them down into the existing subrail so i can remove them if i need to fix something. I will use some seam sealer and put the plywood on top of the sheetmetal . This way it its flush with the subrail.
I was installing the dash but it was too tight so i had to do some grinding too get the parts to fit. I thought i had a good fit two years ago before i painted them. I will just have to respray them.
This hood came with the car when i picked up the car. Any one know what it is from? I am considering using the two top sections for this build. I will need to make some adjustments to make it fit. Someone has made some mods to improve air flow within the engine compartment.
I don't know what it is from but I had a 30's Austin with those catches. Or rather if those catches have "Ripaults" on them they are the same as on Austins and probably others.
I decided to install the sound system . I built a ported subwoofer box to fit behind the seat. Had some nice weather so i took the old Vette out.
I installed the USB port in the seat frame so i can control the system. I kept the system out of sight.
Great car, Great build. Very nice paint work. Keep the updates coming. Cragars came out in about 1964, what wheels did Frank run when the car was first built ? I like the Cragars, just curious. Try some Murphys oil soap on the interior panels, very mild soap but does a lot for leather, vinyl, pleather to keep it soft. Cutting gaskets, I keep little straps of pipe around with different diameters, sharpen the edge, punch them out. Works for cork or rubber sheet.
Frank had some Keystones on the car about 1965. I love the rear wheels with the pie crust. Thanks for the tips. The s**** pipes would have helped to make the gaskets. I will apply some type of soap to help soften the interior.
Years ago I attend an all British Field meet in Portland, OR. All types of British cars were in attendance. Some of the old Brit cars from the 30, had those knobs holding down the bonnets of their cars. Did remember until I saw your pic. Someone slong the way thought it was a cool part to put on your hotrod.
Here is the progress in the last two weeks. I installed some sound deadening material . I repainted the two interior parts that needed some grinding to get them to fit. The last picture is the light bar i wear when i need extra light they work great. I also use it when i paint so i don't miss anything
Today i installed one of the doors. I used the paint stand to hold the door in place . This way i can hang the doors solo.
Damn! That is one good looking vehicle! That’s one Ford I would be proud to ride in! Love the roof insert and running boards.
The inside door panel is rubbing on the door jam so i removed the fabric from the panel . I will trim the board at the red line and shift the fabric enough to clear the door jam.
Great job, like the way you tried to keep it as the original builder put it together. I also own a small block Ford powered '30 model A coupe. Enjoy driving the car as much as possible.
This weekend i set the toe-in to 3/16", thanks to the info i found on The hamb it was easy. I was under the car looking for issues that might need adjusting or leaks. Found some paint worn on the front crossmember. The tie rod rubs on the crossmember when turning the car. I moved the tie rod to the second hole in the spindle arm. I had to ream the hole out to get the ball joint to fit. That fixed the problem.
I was planning to hang the driver side door but found a water mark in the paint. I will not buff out. Its in between the clear coats. Must have missed that. It is only visible at certain angles. I will sand the lower section of the door and shoot two coats of color and a few coats of clear. I think when i cleaned the doors to shoot the second round of clear i missed it.
I repaired the paint on the door, and painted the two door mouldings. I am applying the first coat of clear on this video --> https://www.youtube.com/shorts/-_b_WwzIDLA
