Hi Brenda, thank you telling us about Danny. He's a good guy, I enjoy his posts. I had open heart surgery, double bypass last Friday and I am healing well. I can spell again! The first few days were rough, couldnt think clearly, couldn't spell, couldn't walk well, constant danger of falling down. Stay by his side at all times so he doesn't fall. Follow doctors orders carefully, exceed the bare minimum of time on the breathing toys. I am amazed at how much I have improved in one week. Danny will too. He will gain more stamina and strength in the next 6 weeks and will be better than he was. They told me to do as much as I can for myself. The more he does, the faster he heals within reason. Don't overdo the physical stuff. Brenda, be of good cheer. He will be back strong and quickly.

  5. Um....uh..... come on Danny, you know the rules..... Pictures or it didn't happen! And please, make sure the ones of you in the hospital gown are from the front.... ain't NOBODY here needs to see you from the back!
    back to regular programming....

  16. Guys, after reading your post offering prayers & well wishes I am truly humbled and very much unlike me at a loss for words, I am a man of faith and I know they are heard.

Brenda & I appreciate the words of encouragement and the testimonials of shared experience,

I'm feeling better every day and scheduled to start cardiac rehab on the 30th

We may have our difference of opinions from time to time but at the end of the day we are like family, I am just a member here like all of you and I care for each and every one of you, please learn from my experience, If it's been a while think strongly about having a checkup.

Again, the thoughts, prayers, emails, conversation and even the phone calls have been some of the best medicine. Thank you, Danny

Good to hear your doing better Danny. You know as well as many of us what the power of prayer is and has for us. I can't agree more with you on getting a checkup and heeding the warning signs. I had some Adema in my left leg that My wife and I were concerned about. Well, after an Echocardiogram, I found out that I have a bad Aotric valve that I have had since birth.. Who knew?! So, there will be open heart surgery for me if and when the leakage gets too bad. Until then, GOD has his hands at work with it and I ended up with some pretty sharp Dr.'s to help me along.. So, stay strong and let GOD lead the way!

Danny and Brenda, after 2 decades and tens of thousands of posts we have grown to know and love you as family. Thank you Brenda for keeping us in the loop and take care of the big guy like I know you will.

Danny, sounds like you are on the way to recovery, do as the Doctors say. As much as I tend to disagree and dislike doctors, on matters pertaining to the heart they now have lots of technology and knowlege to repair like a good mechanic would. Many of my friends have been through these procedures successfully and are doing well. I have no first hand experience and not looking forward to joining the club.

Good luck and best wishes is all I can do from here. Everything will be OK and one day we will look back and say "Well, that was interesting."

  22. Glad to hear you posting again. Bypass with some copper tubing and you'll get full pressure again :).

Had what they thought was a heart attack about five years ago. After a lot of tests determined it wasn’t a heart attack but I did have some cardiac issues they now monitor every 6 months. For all the tough guys that don’t need doctors just remember as you get older you need to take better care of yourself not less. Pretty amazing what they can do now. My brother just had a valve replacement and was released the next day at 87.

Hang in there Danny and pray you have a speedy and full recovery!

Been there and done that and it's definitely no fun. Hoping you a speedy recovery the best to your family as well. Sometimes it's harder on them than what you are going through. Keep swingin'!

Great to hear from you, best wishes for a speedy recovery. Your words summarize what I've always said, Car guys are consistently some of the best people I've ever been around and even with differences, we are still a family. I have been to events from California to Maine, Florida to Washington State and always enjoy the groups of people I have met along the way. Take care and enjoy the many miles of open road and hot rodding ahead. Prayers will continue to be sent.

Get well soon Danny, sending prayers for you and your loved ones! I didn't have a heart attack but after having abdominal surgery for prostrate cancer I had to take it easy while that healed, I noticed that I would run out of breath easily and was blaming it on being out of shape from the surgery and recovery. Then with my next Dr appointment he scheduled me for a stress test which I did very poorly on and ended up getting angioplasty and a stent to open up the blockage and that's been 18 years and I am doing well in that department ever since! Follow the orders and do cardiac rehab and you can be good to go for many years!
