    What's the best way to
    "free up" stuck valves in an old Ford flathead V8.
    Complete engine in car been sitting for along time (under cover).

    Heads are on. Don't want to remove.

    does the engine rotate freely? the valves are sticking open?

    not removing the heads will make it more difficult. but i suppose you could spray some PBlaster in the sparkplug hole onto the valvestem, spin it over a bit, then try to reach in the sparkplug hole and pry the valve down.

    i bet you'll money and time ahead if you just take the heads off and get the valves working by lubing the stem and tapping them down with a soft rubber mallet. then put new headgaskets on.

    thats what i did with my flatty in my coupe.
     
  5. pull the heads, oil it up, get a hammer and play wack-a-valve as you rotate it around.
