I'm still not connecting it to a post...but when you reply to a post if you left the content of the post when replying it would help...

this is probably a long shot..but after reading about the “ice box” coupe above and looking at the linked thread, then looking at details of this coupe.. what are the chances this is an early version of the same car? It appears to have chrome door hinges and a 32 shell, along with the bobbed rear fenders.. of course there’s good chance I’m completely wrong

I think the chop is less or not chopped. When building The Ice Box a re-chopping is not a thing that wasn't done if there was a former chop already and yes taking someone else's former dream, then remastering it is certainly not a new phenomenon...I would think there is a plausible chance especially if these fellas and the Coupe were in Connecticut in the mid 50s. I really like the early version of the Ice Box in Austinrods Thread without the front fenders...it really had a look with the later version like above also full of 60s coolness.

Hamber @desoto was one of those who was fortunate to have a camera in the Hamb era at the strip and other locales and he seemed to be influenced by the RatFink revolution or even earlier Hoodlum doodling as evidenced by the art on the top...:D

...this is a great fender detail shot of the Bart Root Roadster...and I'll overlook the Bug as they share incredible history and this quite clearly shows rectangular bar bolted strategically thru the backing plates with the rearward bar under the kingpin boss on the plate...

Bicycle tubing is a strong fairly light period option and as
alluded use of just steel or aluminum round tube as well...so many options for those considering Cycle Style Fronts...

Another unrelated but notable detail in this pic is the Lower Shock Bracket looking to be a 90° angle bolted to the lower perch similar to the more modern L-Shaped Cousin...

Possibly British motorcycle fenders? Those would have been common at that time and place, and most all the flat trackers and customizers discarded their front fenders.

...Hamber @AVater's Special Coupe retaining one of it's most defining features...the trademark top...with the fenders providing its lighter sporty look...

... @sgtlethargic, Thanks for sharing the subjects you are critiquing, I am careful to be to critical of these details...Period, Regional differences, builder preferences...and I suspect it was simply telling a story probably that seeing the road trumped bringing it down...

I have a chopped Coupe and have a clear view of the header panel so it really is typical of Hotrod...Stupid but looks Cool...I just lean forward a bit and lower my heed...:D...Imagine how many times that was played out...

Many times The Look takes away safety features that once existed and chosen compromise in the full extent of the mod may have hastened the full effect...a happy medium so to speak...but no matter what, someone will find something ugly to cut off or make right...

To me it's just part of the Soul...

After watching threads of late ripping less than perfect paint and to Showworthy Hamb inspired builds getting Dumbo Status & bashing builders is there any appreciation for history any more...

We must understand Traditional was not perfect...it was real and the best one could do...

I just want to see more...I appreciate the warts and all and wouldn't change a thing...

I'd expect my Hand be deservedly removed if I altered anything on that Root Roadster...were it mine...but again I could go back and enjoy it all for what it was...I know what you would do and to be fair a few more angles of study might change ones thoughts or not...;)

Sgt...I hope there's more positives here regardless of this reflection of past chop styles...
