I was speaking to my wife's uncle, Mr. Miles, this weekend and found out he was part of the racing scene in the late 50's and early 60's. It seems that he was partnered with a guy by the name of Don Madison while campaigning a light blue dragster that was built in his garage. I am looking to see if anyone may have remembered what happened to this car.

The car was completely homebuilt but looked to be of substantial quality orginally light blue and later in life candy red, maybe with flake. Jeep rear end with magnesium wheels obtained from one of AJ Foyt's dirt track cars. The front was Hillman, maybe? With 12" wheels with cut down discs. Car ran a 283 with 2-4s,3-2s and later I believe Hillborn induction.

I spoke with him for more than 6 hours, saw photos and truly enjoyed the time he gave me. I believe that he also enjoyed the conversation as he thought of things he was a part of then.

I found some shots of the car on youtube and will reference them later so that some may see the car.

    Thanks

The car is shown here at about the 2:31 mark

  4. Cool video, too bad there's never any audio on these old clips. I'd really like to hear the engines.

I think I know Mr Miles, does he have a 30ish yellow pickup with a lot of woodwork?

Do you have any more pics of the dragster that you can post up? It looks great.

    Unfortunately I don't.

  10. I think I met that guy at Gary (Pineapple) Gibson's, Jeff's late father, around the corner from you. Steel cowl, wooden doors and just about everything else?

no. He has a 33-34 truck with extensive woodwork in the bed and inside the cab.

Anyone else have any clues on this dragster? I believe he was part of the Road Barons CC back then.

Trying one more time to see if I can help an old racer relive memories.

That's the guy. We had a mutual friend (Bob) that worked/partners with his son Kerry. I bought a parts truck from him years ago and he delivered it to my house. You need to post some pictures of that truck, if I remember right, the bed had the State of Texas in it?
