Looking for a reputable shop/person in the Houston area to do some hand lettering on my street rod. Any recommendations? Tks
Yes, he did. Should BE good?? Already IS good, because somebody has their panties in a wad about terminology.
I don’t know what you mean. I’m just sitting off to the side watching and enjoying some popcorn Street Rods are a really popular topic around here and the guys usually love talking about them as much as they love talking about lettering their cars. Can’t you tell from all the replies you have?
You might look for local sign painters as an example. Everything on my avatar is done by hand. As a kid, it was like watching Leonardo. Just smooth flicks of the wrist and bam!!!!!!
Thanks, appreciate the response. I have seen some nicely done hand painted signs, so I will check with a couple places to see if the do auto work, or know someone who does.
Like any number of other people on this board, I am active to some degree on a couple other automotive interest boards/websites. I may or may not find some of the cars on other sites to be of particular interest, not mine, but to each his own. However, if someone asks for help with a question or issue they have, and I may be of assistance, then I am glad to help them out with a suggestion. Or, direct them to a board/website where they might find what they are looking for. Doesn't matter to me what they are building/driving, I enjoy helping out where I can.
I picked up a business card at the paint store in Conroe and a few at the Autorama last year. I'll try to find them on my messy desk at the shop tomorrow. No personal recommendations, but some people to talk to anyway.
@txcr13 , here is the information from the two cards I picked up. Von Sword Pinstriping - Eddy Von Sword 832-638-2958 "hand painted, pinstriping and lettering, murals, gold leaf, airbrushing. Kodak's Custom Paint - Mario Cabrera 713-645-0000 supcabrera@aol.com As I said, I have no connection or knowledge of either one and have not even seen their work. Could be worth a try though. There are some hot rod/restoration shops that I have cards for as well if you're interested in calling them. I don't know them either. The painter I use is good, but very straightforward and doesn't do much custom work. I'll ask him if he knows a lettering person the next time I'm out there.
maybe join the pinstripers garage group on facebook and ask who's in the area that will do what your looking for, and you can see pictures of their work, etc. I see posts like that pop up all the time on there and there will usually be some good suggestions coming from it.
Thanks, shivasdad. I appreciate your going to the effort to get back to me. I will check those two out. Thanks again.
