Then save a bit more, junk the 302 and c4 build a 292/312 and fit a t700 o/d auto (there are adapters to suit) and have a way better car.

I sold a model T top to a guy who was sharing some pics of his collection with me and he had this photo of his '57 Courier back in the day, apparently he had to sell it when he got drafted into the Army. Such a cool pic I just had to share it here. Dig the super wide chrome reverse on the back! And that side trim must have been Courier only, it's different than the regular Custom sedan stuff.

  3. Does anyone have any pictures of a wild '57 Ranchero "bobtail" show car. I think it may have been featured in the little pages around '58-'59. I always thought it was one of the wildest show cars of the time.

  7. The Trendero isn't really "bobtailed". I imagine you are thinking of the post accident version of the Tiago Ranchero.

  11. Thank you Sancho. The Tiago Ranchero is the one I was looking for as it made such a lasting impression on a 13 year old gearhead. Radical, even for our current time frame. Thanks again.

  13. OK< you did say we gotta talk about it........Beautiful car, but I've got to say, the way they rolled the back pan just doesn't work well imho. It's straight across, should be bowed like the trunk and blended into the curvature under the taillight........not ended abruptly where the seam use to be. It's a ton more work, with the compound curve, but.......[IMG] Sorry. Yeah, I've open the door for criticism on mine, lol.

  14. Making a 57 Ford a Kustom is a dangerous choice. They are a wonderful place to start and so easy to go wrong on. That said I'll just hold my opinion on both of them.

  18. I absolutely agree. I really wanted to customize mine, not necessarily a Kustom as generally considered, but as you said, it's a design very hard to change, and most attempts end up a disaster. There are a few radicals pulled off well, but very very few. As much as I wanted to do some first time customizing, I decided my goal was going to be just getting everything cleaned up as much as posible. I don't consider mine a Kustom Custom, the gone-out-of-favor term restomod fits mine perfectly.

  19. If I can ever get back on my 57 Hardtop and get it together, I'll just call it Hand rubbed and personalized. A lot of it isn't stock but I'm pretty sure most that like these will think it's okay. Well, except for the purest restoration guys. That's okay, I don't fit in with them either.

why was the 59 left off of this thread? 57, 58 and 59 are the same car with different skin

  21. No boats allowed! They may be similar cars, but they just look too big and bulky to me. Five of those things over the years were enough...

  22. If you take the time to actually look at them side by side, the 59 is as one off as the 58 Chevy is. You either love them or for sure, Don't.

  23. It's the common silhouette that the 57 and 58 have.

IMG_2941.jpeg IMG_2939.jpeg IMG_2938.jpeg IMG_2937.jpeg We went to the Dawsonville GA Moonshine Festival yesterday. It's a real gathering of old Fords, and there was a gaggle of '57-'58's.
