Technical How about a all encompassing thread on wheels & tires?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Jul 8, 2022.

  1. Hear me out, I get conversations all the time asking me what size wheels & tires did I have on my '32 sedan, or on Brenda's '54 Ranch Wagon.

I still get a lot of questions about my choice of wheels and tires on my old deuce pickup.

My thought is to post a photo of your car or truck with the width & size wheel and the size of the tires, both front and rear, this could be a big help if a member is building a car similar ant wondering what will fit.

I'll start off with the 32 pickup, it's the one I get the most request for.

The wheels are 5" x 15" with Coker bias ply 560-15 front & 6" x 15" with Coker bias ply L78-15 on the rear.

  2. Next is the '54 Ranch Wagon.

The front wheels are 6" x 15" with Coker 15/70R15 radial wide whites & the rear are 7" x 15" with Coker 225/70R15 radial wide whites.

    6" x 15" with 195/70R15 front radials and 8" x 15'' with 225/70R15 rear radials

I did alter the rear inner fender wells to accommodate the width of the rear tires.

Only question I ever get on my hotrods is what size are your cheater slicks, and are they DOT approved? Both have 9"x15" pie crust slicks, and they seem to be the center of questions. Even more than what engines are in my cars!

Danny, this is a great idea for a thread, I know I have looked at a car and thought how good the wheels and tires looked and have sent a pm to the owner of the car asking the same questions,

I used BFG's for years until they got out of my price range. Been using Cooper and Mastercraft the last 5-6 years, have gotten good service out of them.

I edited my sizes a bit, front tires are 215/70/15, rear wheels are actually 8.5" x 15". Case of foggy memory....
