I've always liked the 66-67 Falcon (with the round taillights better than the square 68-69) but feel that Ford missed the mark a bit, especially compared to how great the 63.5-65 hardtops looked and also how great 66-67 Novas look in comparison as well. So this is an attempt to correct that. Looks more like the Rambler American than I expected, could use some tweaking.

Do you mean the '66-'67 or the '68-'70?

I need to have a go at that. Just not today. I've got an off-the-wall idea which may or may not work.

To be more precise, I'd like to see the 68-70 Charger Chopped....

OK. Here is the '70 Charger lowered with maybe a 2" chop.
I think it spoils the balance of the car, but you may like it.

What happens if you knock all the 1970's gaudy out of a '79 Coupe de Ville? Smoothed out as much as possible. Panel gaps would need to be super tight. Headlights are modern Rolls Royce units.

The chop makes a car that already looks too long, look longer. It happens most of the time.

Most of the short body cars look OK chopped as long as they don't go too far. Those mail slot windows on chopped cars always looks pretty dumb to me.

I always had a strange attraction for the bustleback Sevilles they sold from 80 to 85, but of course I wanted a 2 dr hardtop and they only made them in 4 doors. Could have been a lot smaller and sportier than most Caddy's would ever see...

A different approach to de-gaudying a '79 Coupe de Ville, more of a, what if sanity had prevailed at the time?
79 coupe de ville - modified.jpg Generally cleaned up to get rid of the malaise-era Regency-sideboard-on-a-skateboard look, proper headlights, sensible turn signal locations, bumper tucked in, wheelbase increased into front overhang (suggesting a V12?), track widened, Corvette C4 17" wheels with inset miniature sombreros.

Having said what I said elsewhere about builds which don't recognise the original engineering concept of a car, I've long had the idea of something which stands to a Citroën DS as an Austin 3-Litre stands to an ADO17 Landcrab. That is, a large RWD saloon which weirdly works despite being based on the architecture of a FWD car:
Big DS.jpg This requires a full 3.3m of wheelbase to make room for an engine more exciting than the tractor-like stock unit (Maserati AM107 V8? — it'd be in the right era.) Station wagon rear quarters restore a bit of visual weight to the rear of the car, where the driving wheels are. A wider rear track fixes the Break/Familiale's weird sunken rear wheelwell look, with fender lips to drive the point home. The wheels are SM. And of course, all the hydraulics stay.

Here's an actual chopped 2nd gen Charger (1970), known as "Solo"

A wheel change can do so much.

Been wanting one for a long time like this, might have to settle for the photoshop version.

    Here's a similar '67 Ford Taunus 12M I did in 2022.

    Not really that close?

Almost 50 years ago I did have the idea of a kit which would put a Mustang-like front on a Ford Escort Mk1. It would involve a fibreglass hood and grille piece, and iirc grille trim from an Opel Rekord D (Chevrolet 2500/3800/4100 to us).

Sick puppies.... I thought about a 40 Ford kit on one of those old hunchback Volvo's.... I still remember those cheesy Rolls Royce and early Ford kits they had for VW's....
