Marty Holman's T, cover car on the March 1961 issue of HRM along with Norm's T tourer. Marty's car was also a cover car on a couple of other mags.

I think that is Tommy Ivo's car after it was sold and re-painted. i think I like this version with the panel striping as we did the same on my T.

  3. swifty, that's not Ivo's car.

my fb source says the owner was dick ikanda c. mid-1960s.

a quick search turned up this magazine where the car may be featured. i'm curious so i might have to look into it more.

  14. Welp, Here's my 23 bucket body. Still haven't decided decided if I'm gonna build it or not and if I do will I use the complete 55 Pontiac motor and 4 speed auto or build my old 283 with all the cool parts to make it a screamin 301. 23my23t2.jpg 23myt3.jpg 23t.jpg

Just sayin' I would Think hard about that Hydramatic.
They shift hard enough that your 'lil bucket can easy lose traction.
I would want to go with a high stall converter

Anybody notice how many of the cars in this thread have V8-60 tube axles? I maintain that Ford must have made more than we all think...

It'd cost you but the poncho , hydramatic , especially with a Pontiac rear would be very cool .

I have one. From the thread on them, I've read the patent documents that were posted. I think it would be cost prohibitive to make an exact replica. Getting the arch and the oval shape could be done with some effort, but upsetting the ends to get the kingpin bosses would require some specialized dies. Not to mention finding someone who has a big forging press that wouldn't charge 2 arms, both legs, the family jewels and your first 3 born children. There's some unique features that would be difficult to copy. I suppose if it were made in 3 pieces the ends could be made out of solid stock and the central tube could be made from dom. Then welded and ground to get the thing to look like it was 1 piece. Still probably too expensive...

Those are easy, just two 90 degree bends and a bunch of straight tubing. Line everything up straight and square and start welding. They do look good don’t they?

It seems like it’s almost the same process that they use to create the Super Bell dropped tube axles, just some new tooling. It wouldn’t have to be an exact copy. The long smooth curve and the oval cross section are really the most important style features. I think they might be surprised how many they would sell if they offered them. I think I would prefer that over the aluminum dropped I beam.

if steel is available that is made to the oval shape, it wouldn't be hard for a fab shop to make oval dies then run the tube threw a powered tubing roller. make the king pin boss on a lathe. drill the holes for the spring perch. all you need then is a fixture to weld it together. it wouldn't be exactly right but it could be made with just round tubing too.
