I'd be interested at $1K if we could arrange to let me stay in the trailer a week or two (in season) each year. 1 Bedroom will be fine. :)

Actually, "country club" road courses are quite the rage in the sporty car circles these days. No partners, but rather investors, a board of directors, and of course  lawyers:eek:

  4. Big Dad..
You got what i meant..you would need get the cash together ,make an offer..establish share partnerships, insurance ,transfer fees ,taxes..corp ID..
yeah you need a good legal lawyer to do the deal..
Likely set up like a condo assoc, type deal, where everyone knows the do and can'ts..
    Still not a bad idea..

If you build it WILL they come????

    Think I saw that movie..

700 of us run the San Angelo Rodio. It is the fifth largest in the USA. We are a 501-C3 non profit. We apply for and receive grant money on a regular basis. We do this on 45 acres. It can be done!

It could be done, but in Texas you could take the half mill and by property away from residence, build your track, bleachers and the rest. It's a great idea. I like the private club thing. Then you could keep the rift raff out and the the guys (and gals) who want to see the sport live in. Maybe throw in some camp grounds with hook ups. All members have to put in equal time keeping the place up during events.like the song says "Dreaming is free"

  14. Now hang on here Big Dad. You want to raise 500K for two strips of asphalt so two cars can slug it out side by side for a 1/4 mile??? Well ******#########+++++++====== Shit sounds like a good idea to me>>>>.

I think i can come up with a g I am sure there is a chapter of the local red and white that will do security and as an partner i will expect that my rider be followed to the T ! I expect only the finest tasmanian midget luchadors to feed me my green m&ms!!!

  16. Is there enough shut down area for fuel cars there? Out here in So California, I know of 25 or 30 N/FCs. I kinda get the shivers, in a good way, to think of what sort of match races they can have with so many cars. A whole bunch of these guys are old time drag racers, touring pros, if you want to call them that. They know how to put on a booked in funny car show. I'd find some dough to invest in an east Texas dragstrip, if it can run the IHRA Nitro stuff. Call me a Pollyanna if you want, but I think drag racing is about to make a big cultural comeback. The ricer kids and the NOPI bunch might be dorks and not bow down to the V8 alter, but show them a NITRO show and they get hooked.

As far as the shooting part, man, I don't know. I've never been to east Texas or Louisiana. But I sure love Zydeco and Cajun music which is filled with almost as much violence and bloodshed as bluegrass.

Well....lets get Jesse James and what's her name to buy it. With all the TV and movie connections they have we could all hire on as extras at least 52 weeks a year.:)

Maybe we could just get skinny young chicks in string bikinis to work the water box, staging lanes, etc ?

saving a dead drag strip would be a great thing fit solidly in the "do the right thing" category, and would help ensure my trip to heaven.

i'd imagine a non profit organization.... stock holders.... and a volunteer / low pay elected association to manage. the bottom line though is that it's very unlikely to ever make money. however, many folks do need tax deductions... i do.

i'd be game if someone had the time to seriously put something right together. any retired fellas looking for something good to do?

I'm a sucker for a big dream - count me in! Sounds idyllic to me...
I helped re-start our local strip here, a couple years ago. The politics, money and legalities are nightmarish, but it was so satisfying...
Yeah, I could live in Dragsville, Texas...

It is a 1/4 ..guys tell me that is does have enough shut down area
They said the track itself was ok , return road was lousy

Has not run in 3 years , there are a couple other tracks within 75 miles too

Lots of texas is rural .. The DFW metro has allot of people but
get 100 miles away ...Miles of nothing

  28. Might need a Texas licensed architect if there's any building to do.... hey wait, that's me.
Can I barter for my shares? If so, count me in.
    Dan

  29. Big Dad;
If it's been sittin for 3 years, it may be bought "right" then..
