Jeff my merc is just sitting for now.December 31 will one year since I worked.I've been going back to school for x-ray tech.Money is a little tight and nothing is selling.I've been collecting a few parts for it when I find them or have a little extra money.I did find the car in another magazine Carcraft January 1957(a front end shot of it).Take care.

I got this Merc a little while back and posted in this thread when I brought her home. I was gonna put her under the knife to lower the top this winter..but I just can't bring myself to do it. Getting ready to replace the grey tweed interior with white roll and pleat. Also took off the undercarriage neon that was on it when I got it and removed the headlight covers that are in the pic. Also put on the Caddy hubcaps. I'll post up some updated pics this week.

  6. Wow Homeade!! That is a clean ass great looking Merc!!! I understand you not wanting to cut it.I had my car for 6 years before it went under the knife,I just slammed it to the ground and cruised it.

    Homemade,that was always a nice looking Merc.I wouldn't change a thing,much less cut it.

The F4-U Corsair is my all-time favorite plane.Anyone remember Robert Conrad in "Baa Baa Black Sheep" later to be named "Black Sheep Squadron"?

  9. Taildragger stance is the plan Jeff, next time I post pics the car will look completely different.

  10. Here is hoping it's sooner rather than later!

I swapped outhe drive train rear end, added power steering power disc brakes and then I bit the bullet and pulled the body off to do the floor boards, and trunk pan!

:D Thank God we all have diffrent taste to build cars...

Those wheels are NOT coming under, just moving it in the garage.
In here Finland we have very rough roads so you must have bags if you wanna drive smoothly and allso it looks good when it slammed down!

    Good explanation or what..?

    Sorry my bad English

Yes.. i`m not that humourless guy! :D

  15. Someone buy my '55 Desoto grille so I can buy that guy's Jimmy Jones style skirts out in CALI. I would be very tempted to add them to my build. I can take Bob's eternal ribbing. :)

  16. John I wouldn't buy it just to keep you from using bubble skirt on your car:D

  17. What are you talking about? Just cause I don't like them doesn't mean they're bad! Besides...you live on that "other" coast where guys seem to like them, hahaha!

Chicago isn't on any coast BOB! Besides we do like them over here, and dummy spots, and lake pips, and conti kits.... :D

  19. If I can get those skirts, I'll still run my '55 Studebaker hub caps up front... Will keep the car very 1955-1956.

  20. If you don't rib him I will.:D Bubble skirts:rolleyes::D

  21. Well...it's closer to the East Coast, than the West Coast!!!! East of the Mississippi, for sure...

  22. Here we go... East VS. West- Let's meet in the middle and have a demo derby. The car that shed's the least amout of mud wins, and I will sponsor a trophy. It might have a bowler or a dog or something on top,but the winner will trophy. Whatta say boys?

Type "Taildragger" into a google search. You would be surprised at how many planes come up.

    Bill......Just Kidding ;)

  26. I'm supposed to get surprised with some pics of it in final primer. We'll see. It is 95% completed from a bodywork standpoint. The underside of the rockers had a lot of surface rust, they were never painted where you could not see 'em.

  27. I think I am going with gloss black on mine.
