  2. the site works lots faster than two weeks ago or so. I also found it alot easer to load pictures, so that is a plus also.
One question, what are the small square "icons" under peoples avatars?

Great question...those are avatars for people's social groups.

How do you delete a 'conversation' message? How can you tell where you were at your last log in?

I like the white. Of course, I don't have my screen brightness set at 100%.

I find some of the gripes seem to be more related to the computer/user, and not the product.

I'm not an "old" user in the member sense (wait, that don't sound quite right..)
let's just say I've only been on the HAMB a few years.
But, I like this new format.
And, all features and upgrades don't happen suddenly, so we all need to exercise a little patience.... it'll all come around.

  8. About the "icons" under the avatars, what is the differance between social groups and social forums? I belong to some forums but I guess no "groups".

Ryan: It never easy changing servers and upgrading things but it is something that from time to time must be done.

I must admit it is always a little scary changing things and no matter what I.T. people tell tells me about it should go smoothly I find it never does.

I don't monitor pages views as much but I keep a very close eye on unique users and having a great control panel will supply you with a lot of great information on just where you traffic is coming from and even at what time of the day and how long they stay on the site.

I like the new layout and I think you did a great job!

Not sure why everybody is hating on the new conversation feature?
What I love about it, is that you can now "PM" with several users at the same time, and it shows all the replies in chronological order.

I don't have to worry about answering to the latest message that has been sent, because there is only one "thread" there. And there is no information going missing, if somebody doesn't reply to the latest...
Or people don't reply to all the people in the original conversation...

Basically what it is now is a personal thread that only you and the other participants of the conversation, or private message have access to.

Sometimes I think people freak out about a new name more then anything else...

As far as the new HAMB overall goes, the design is nice, but it seems to take longer to get to where you need to get.
For example when I want to check news in my social forums, I go to the social forums tab in my profile.
Then I go to one social forum and check stuff out. But when I click back in my browser, it shows my profile page again, instead of remembering that the last thing I looked at was social forums.

Also I haven't used the "watched threads" feature at all, because it seems to be out of the way to get there. In the old HAMB I could click "user CP" from every screen I was on, and it displayed all my watches threads right away.

Search feature is really confusing, because it depends on where on the HAMB you are at, it will display results for only this part.
And if you do an overall search, it finds info from your PMs/conversations as well ans other stuff.
So that there are so many search results shown, that you might have to go to page ten to find what you were looking for.
While you can work around some of the stuff in "advanced" searches, it's not as easy or streamlined as some would hope it to be.

One thing I noticed though, with all the posts about how the new HAMB sucks, people actually forgot to post interesting stuff, like build threads ;)

I like the change. One neat feature I've noticed is that if you're reading a thread, leave, and come back to it later, it will drop you right where you left off in the thread. So you get to see all the new posts.

The tutorials are very well done and should be required reading for EVERYONE, regardless of computer skill

Keep up the hard work Ryan and crew. Bravo

I agree !! I'm tired of seeing the same 2 people post mostly meaningless. Comments on almost EVERY thread. Do you live on the HAMB ?? Trying to win a prize for most posts?

  16. I agree with plym49 on this, wasn't exactly sure how to word it but his version sums up my view too.

I don't know if others have mentioned this at all but I've noticed links being broken here and there. Primarily just when one HAMBer will refer another to a certain thread by posting a link. Other than that it's great. The app still doesn't show classified prices or locations but that's been covered already.

I must agree, this is the only thing I miss from the old HAMB, being able to click on the link to see all posts in the thread displayed.

Like was said before, my only gripe is the bright white. Turned my monitor down to 80% and it helped some, but now other sites are too dark. I'll live with it .

One thing I have noticed though, and I think it's a good thing, is the smart ass answers seem to be a lot less with the new format. Any thread you went to, there was usually one or two smart asses with snide remarks that didn't contribute a thing to the thread. Maybe the new upgrade was above their skills level. :)

I can't believe no one has mentioned the classifieds yet. That alone was worth the hassle of a change.

If we were giving awards for most time spent logged in per day, you'd be right up there man... Come to think of it, that's not a bad idea! Do you prefer t-shirts or coffee mugs? :)

I gotta agree with you on that one, but I can't take credit for it. The German came up with those thumbnails. They've made things so much better.

Is the View All option gone? Never mind. I see now others already asked. Hope to see that back. I see where you say you have to afford it? You have to buy that? Not sure how it all works. Good luck. I upped my membership. :).

Love the new layout and the serif font.

To the guys out there that are having trouble reading; you can easily enlarge the text with [cmd] and [+] on Mac and [ctrl] and [+] on PC (if memory serves me right)?

Ryan, you kick ass! In a word, thanks!

Any chance the albums could resize pics that are too large automatically? It would be really nice to streamline iPhone size pics straight into my albums without resizing.

Awesome. Thanks Ryan. Not a "must have", but a nice feature.

I'm in learning curves on the forum changes and changing from droid to iPhone. So far I'm liking the forum changes. The home PC is fine. I like the way the app runs on the iPhone not so much on the iPad. I've been using using Safari on the iPad instead. I'll try an iPad restart to see if it makes a difference. Too much technology for an old guy. I'll take 6 volts, a point distributor and carburetors if you please. This site is the best and getting better still.

It's all good. Count this as another vote in favor of the design, especially the white space. I like it.

Like a lot of people, I really don't like changes.
I'm adapting, and I'm sure before long, I'll forget what the old HAMB was even like.
I hated to give up my first mobile phone (about the size of my size 13 shoe), then let's not forget the loss of our precious TV antennas (hey Dad, how's the picture now?)..maybe some changes aren't so bad after all.
