    Hi, i love it.

My only feedback is I'm subscribed to lots of threads with email notification. When I click on the attachment to redirect me if I'm not really paying attention to which thread it is. It only displays the thread name at the top of the page.

So I have to go to the top to see the thread name.

I'm mostly on my iPhone 5 with iOS 7.

    Cheers Aaron.

Overall OK. You ave made some behind the scenes improvements since launch that have been good. Search, I's like to see a link to go to the first unread post when you search thread titles. Right now you need to go to the thread then click on the first unread post.

I don't know if this has been covered before, but I really like to see the 'new posts' tab have more than 6 pages. It use to have 20. It should have at least two days worth of posts I can see if I want to view everything new. I know, I can go to each section and view them there, but I just like one button to push and see it all........

Like with most things change takes some effort. I wanted to hold off on a response until I could overcome stumbling around and running into the walls, or at least long enough that I could get a true feel for how the forum was set up. I think its wonderful with a few personal preface exceptions I think its great.

With that said I have noticed that when I am replying to a P.M. / Conversation the original message seems to be abbreviated. It doesn't show the whole text until I start typing? Not sure if its a glitch in the system or my POS puter. I miss the Pics in the Social groups as well. But thats all small stuff.

I still have the Hamb on the front page of my site and appreciate this place more than most could understand. This Hamb and the way it is run is truly appreciated... Thanks for everything Ryan. Im enjoying it just fine!

  6. @Ryan (& "the German") -

I like just about everything about the "new & improved" The Jalopy Journal Blogsite and the H.A.M.B. forum! ... Well done!

However, there were a few (yet to be resolved) issues that occurred during the upgrade that left me a bit disappointed:

    1) Some of the ASCII text in old posts didn't get properly converted.

For example ... in the first few posts in my May 2008 THE 1958 NHRA NATIONALS thread, many of the "special characters" are displaying as their HTML unicode code ... e.g.:
    • apostrophe symbols (right single quotation marks) as &#8217
    • left single quotation marks as &#8216
    • left & right double quotation marks as &#8220 and &#8221
    • three dots (ellipsis) as &#8230
... and the & tags (nor the [sup] & [/sup] tags) no longer work to make text display as superscript.

NOTE: I have been able to go back into my "old" posts and edit them to correct these messed-up special characters ... It's just going to take quite some time to "fix" all of my old posts.

    2) Some of the embedded videos in old posts didn't get converted to the new "MEDIA" tag format ... so they are no longer displayed.

NOTE: I have been able to go back into my "old" posts and edit them to display the YouTube or Vimeo video clips ... It's just going to take quite some time to "fix" all of my old posts.

    3) The Album description field appears to only allow 200 characters (including spaces) ... so all of my (verbose) album descriptions were truncated ... On a positive note: Albums can now include embedded videos!

I am a supporter of the change and upgrades. The site is very modern with some serious improvements in the photo uploads and classified ad photos. I am old but really like all the new stuff you added. I need to learn all I can while I can.
    Thanks!

I can´t seem to get used to the new look. Don´t have the time to try and learn to get on with it, so I haven´t been on here much since it changed.

First - Thanks for trying to upgrade this site. Second - Thanks for being willing to ask for input on how things are going. Third - Not much to ad that has not been mentioned already. Maybe that when I first tried to use the option to enlarge all pics being posted It did not work. So, when I post pics I click on the full image for each. Fourth - I am not a pic/symbol avatar user. But, they seem too large - some I do not want to see so close up. Fifth - I will wait to see how things change in the next couple of weeks and go from there. Sixth - I learned a lot just reading comments posted here. I am not one to read directions but, appreciate having an answer to questions or uncertainty about how things work here. Seventh - I am low tech/buck and do not have/use a lot of the hi-tech stuff available. Eighth - Again, Thanks for all of your hard work.

I agree, I really liked being able to see where a guy was from at a glance. On the other hand, I am starting to change my mind about the new pm system. I really like the way it is so much easier to attach pics to a pm. Hey, what can I say, I'm over 50, change is tough to deal with for us guys.

  13. I never realized that my address "In a van down by the river" location is in New Jersey! Second... I don't see the river... where did it go?

    I guess that's why I haven't received my mail!

Getting used to it, takes a bit of playing around like anything else that is new. Really like the fast image uploading, especially the full-size option.

  15. If you're using a computer browser, simply move your cursor over their avatar:

If you're using the TJJ app, then you have to tap on their avatar:

I dont mind the dating ads, but I HATE getting ads for these POS rice burners & their tweaker dealers!

    But I'm a future curmudgeon. ..

I have filed a couple of reports of "HAMB has stopped" from my new android phone this week. Happened as I tried to respond to a thread with a quote.

if you're stuck with IE8, you're out of luck. neither of those methods work. the avitar just goes blank.

i've also noticed the new version of the hamb runs slower on my home computer. rarely had any problems on the old hamb. the new hamb is chock full of upgrades i'll never use. it seems to cater to the younger, hipper social media types. once you get past the cheerleaders, i know alot of people who are having problems with it. old guys who used to lurk are completely lost now.

  18. Works more gooder for me now because I surf from my phone. The upgrades helped. Only bitch I have is it takes longer to speed surf when on the computer because the threads are spread out.
Who can really bitch about a free site that has so much helpful info.
    Carry on....

I like it, it took a little getting used to but its feeling normal already.

I know that it's been addressed but I dont think the search works as good as before. It just doesn't seem like you get all the results you should when you search. I liked have a search window on the specific forum you were looking at (especially classifieds)

  21. Please don't make this an age/generational thing...that's just dishonest.

At this point, if long-time 'lurkers' are lost it's because they either haven't taken the time or aren't willing to take the twist out of their panties enough to learn it or reach out for help. The entire staff here is ready & willing to lend a hand...

getting used to the new look still and overall I like it. The search function is something I am not fond off (probably me doing something wrong) When I do a search using a word it brings up every post in the same thread rather than just once.

I also miss the ability to quickly just look up the post I have started (it does anything I have posted in)

  23. In a nutshell, I found that the old version worked well. The new one does as well but has more features and do-dads... It feels more "capable". But, with all this new capability, I must say that it feels less intuitive.
Still very happy to be here and thanks for trying to make it even better.

I did the re boot as instructed on the iPad thread and as of now, it looks like that did the trick. I am liking the new format now, a lot. Still can't reload the HAMB app, but honestly I never used it much anyway, so I'm just gonna stay with Safari. Nice work!

    Ryan,
After my auto sign in was fixed and the ads went away, it has been smooth sailing! Thanks for your help with that issue!
