hey guys in need your help....i have a guy selling a 292 for a great price....heres the problem... i sold my truck about a year ago....and now i have a Ford Flex....i no...i no...every family needs a truck.....i dont have anyone in my family or my friends that own a truck...and if they do...i wont make the 300 mile trip...to pick it up...

So i'm thinking I can some how fit it in my Flex...the 2nd and 3 row seats fold flat.......But will it fit throw the rear hatch opening.....I really dont want to rent a truck or trailer.....that cost would be more then the motor.

So how big is a Chevy 292 inline...its missing the harmonic balancer and the intake and exhaust manifold. its just a head and block with a water pump and valve cover and oil pan.....can anyone tell me the dimensions of the motor???.....i'm gonna have the guy drain it of all its oil before...so i could lay it on its side......

    Thanks

    Joe

Don't know the dimensions, but they are almost 2" taller than the 235/250's. The 292 weighs about 450lbs as a long block. It should fit in the car, if it doesn't...it's a sign that you need a bigger car.

  3. Well, cover the whole back deck with a tarp or something. Don't do what I did once with a Ford RF diesel and lay it down on the side only to have 7 ******** quarts of oil leak out of it in the back of my Suburban. Or drain the damned oil out first.

Otherwise, it should fit in the back for you laid over on the side without a problem. A Flex is that thing that looks like a 5/8ths scale International Travelall if they still made them today, isn't it?

I sold a 292 to a guy ,we loaded it into the back of a Ford Explorer, compare that to yours. It was while back but I believe we rigged up the engine flat so the shop crane boom would clear the Explorer roof when loading.
Important,do crash into anything while carring an engine in the back of p***anger vehicle :D

Rent a U-haul van. Less than $50 for a daily rental, no mileage. Your wife will hate the smell in the Flex, and you don't have to worry about oil stains in your vehicle.
