Have a 41 Ford Tudor i would like to get some 60's (1962-1963) touches on. But im stuck cause i cant find so many pics of 40's car made in early 60's style! All help, idées and PICS (ofcourse) are welcome. Also interested in what kind of colors they used then. Thinking of a light green metallic on the car!!
57 Pontiac lime fire green was a popular color at that time. White walls were narrower than the wid e whites that guys run now. Flipper hub caps or black rims and baby moons. Maybe chrome reverse rims.
Thinking of using this new green Ford Focus color. Think it would look good with the whitewalls and the cromed grill and stuff!
Stevo has a perfect example of what a real hot rod looked like in the early 60's The car he has was built in 58-9 and as it sits now is pretty much have it looked when it was driving around this area in the early to mid 60's. The only thing that MAY be different are the tires, and that's a maybe... Look here for more - http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=311043&showall=1 Vance
Hot Rods in the early 60's most generally did not have custom paint jobs. Sure there were a couple in my hometown of 3000 people but they belonged to kids with family money. Most of us did with the junkyard dog and did the best we could with what we had. We could only dream of having a car like you would see in Car Craft mag. I had to s****e up money from my paper route just to buy primer. Interiors were what you had and wheels were important to customize them. It took me a year to save enough for a pair of wheels from Honest Charlie's. I remember I put a 4 track on lay away at K-Mart and paid by the month so I could have tunes. Here is my coupe from the mid 60's.
I had a 41 Ford business coupe back in 62 it was candy red with 53 merc flathead with stock interior and baby moon hub caps. Sorry no pics of it. I do have a pic of my current car 40 Ford with shave hood and trunk. They did use the burgendy color back then.
